Has anyone heard of the band the Screemin Meemz?

I am trying to find out information on a single record (45 rpm) that I have.

The record label has nothing on it and it comes in a plain yellow sleeve with the hand written song titles: “750 ml” & “Lost For Words”.

According to the Film & Sound Archives the bands name is the Screemin Meemz or may have also been known as Meemz.

I am guessing the band is from Canberra and the music sounds like it is from the 80s or early 90s and may have been released as part of the IMPACT (Improve the ACT) program.

Any information would be greatly appreciated

PS. The band began as ‘The Screaming Meamies’ but was shortened to ‘The Meemz’. I’m suprised you haven’t found the single with the picture sleeze.

I went to Copland College with them. They won some school band comp for a song with an anti-drug theme. The prize was recording time and the pressing of that single. It was circa 87-88. They split up about 89. I went to several of their shows and I remember them as being pretty good but I stopped going after I got to know them personally – the singer/bass player in particular was a total dick.
