Has Furner completely lost his mind?

The ABC brings word that Raiders’ coach David Furner’s epic sulk after losing to the Storm in round one has now extended to wanting to break one of the most important rules of sport, that what goes on the field stays on the field:

The Raiders coach says that in such a competitive year, re-calibrating the for-and-against tallies may mean the difference between a club making the finals or not.

“With that try that was awarded to the Storm and the one disallowed to the Raiders, is there a chance that although in that case the Storm get the two points that you get to rectify your for-and-against?” Furner said.

“If it needed to be awarded a try and it wasn’t, or vice versa, there could be a way there to take four points away or six points away or add, which will affect the for or against.”

Furner did not say if he intended to raise it directly with NRL officials, but feels it should be an issue up for discussion.

Because judicial review of every single game is just what the world needs.

Word. Furner has 8 weeks. If he doesn’t produce results, Tricky Ricky takes over.

I heard he had 6 weeks to perform

Even for a leaguey, that is an unbelievably stupid suggestion.

Just what rugby league needs

The review showed they got dudded by two tries in a match lost by a few points. The Sharks were dudded as well. Teams with prominent players and a high media presence – eg Melbourne, Sea Eagles – especially when playing at home, always seem to do better with the NRL referees. The ugly sisters – eg Raiders, Sharks, Gold Coast – may as well not turn up if they expect a fair go. It becomes critical when they play an attractive team that is not performing as well as it should.
With eight teams out of sixteen making the semis, it is possible a less attractive team (such as the Raiders) could scrape in, and losing any points or percentage advantage is therefore critical.

Already the excuses for a poor raiders showing start dribbling in.

Thought bubble or round 2 and he’s already looking for excuses for not making the finals this season?
