Haunted by the ghost of threads past

Back in March ’07 Riot reader Lilli resurrected an old Canberra ghost story thread that had been pottering along slowly since originally posted by Thumper in November ’05 by making an enquiry about a supposed haunted house in Michelago.

Again this RiotACT thread, as ever populated by amateur investigative journalists, seemed to potter along until this comment by Paul earlier today.

So much for the haunted house at Michelago. I went for a look and its only a large derelect building which has been vandalised. Plus, I’m being prosecuted (trespassing plus they’re pointing the finger at me for vandalism)for my troubles. The owners have stepped up the security and I got sprung. It’s not worth the trouble or risk of prosectution.

It appears the only thing currently haunting Michelago is the police.

If you go to the tga site at symonston you might run in to the spook that insists on driving the night staff crazy by opening and shutting the sliding doors as well as setting off alarms when no one is there. But then again I know of a few guards who have died of boredom you may be lucky to meet one or some

I am living in the michelago haunted house I died in 1929 I slipped on the stairwell and broke my neck i have since learned to use computers so if you go there and see a ghost with its head turned sideways dont forget to say hi I promise I wont say a boo to you

What foreshadowing on my behalf.. I’m glad we didn’t venture in any further now!

zackly. It’s not trespass until you are asked to leave, and you don’t. (weird-arse law).

Or trespass for that matter, which is not a criminal offence in itself. (Note my precise wording.)

If Paul’s reading this, I’d like to know how he was sprung, and how exactly they intend to pin all the damage on one individual with no proof of it occurring, I bet no equipment to damage the property in his possession and so on???

Paul,
From what I understand, a few years ago some kids went out to the house and one of them fell through the staircase and broke a leg. They then turned around and sued the owner. Since then, the owner has gone to great lengths to make sure no-one goes in there and due to a greater number of people living around that area now people are more likely to call the cops when they see cars parked on that stretch of road. Bad luck, but it is private property and the owner has to protect himself from stupid people somehow 🙂
