TAMS are making it known that the new and improved Albert Hall and Yarralumla Woolshed are a great function option:

Albert Hall and Yarralumla Woolshed are now more accessible to the community, Daniel Bailey, Director, ACT Property Group, announced today.

“Affordable public liability insurance will continue to be offered to hirers of Albert Hall and Yarralumla Woolshed throughout 2013-14 with the extension of a public liability insurance policy,” Mr Bailey said.

“The policy was introduced on a 12 month trial basis on 1 July 2012 to make it easier for the

community to hire the two facilities and, throughout 2012-13, 27 hirers benefited from the scheme. A mix of events were held at the venues with weddings and birthdays proving the most popular.

“Previously, casual hirers including families and individuals were unable to hire the venues unless they belonged to an organisation that had public liability insurance. Under the policy, casual hirers are now able to obtain insurance coverage for approximately $250 (inc GST) per event in addition to the hiring fee, thus, making Albert Hall and Yarralumla Woolshed more sought after venues.”

Mr Bailey said an evaluation of the scheme will be conducted at the end of the financial year to analyse its use and effectiveness and determine whether the scheme will be offered in 2014-15.

“The ACT Government is keen to make these two venues available for a wide range of uses. The extension of the public liability insurance policy has helped with affordability and, with the installation of a ramp, Albert Hall is now also easier for people with strollers, wheelchairs and other mobility aids to access.

“This is a positive step towards ensuring all people can easily access these heritage listed venues, with an easy access ramp already available at Yarralumla Woolshed.
