ACT Policing is seeking the assistance of the public to locate David Abuoi, a 35-year-old man missing since July 10.

David was reported missing to City Police Station by his cousin on Saturday (August 4), who was concerned for David’s welfare after not speaking with him for more than three weeks.

David is African in appearance, approximately 175cm (5’9”) tall, with a slim build, dark short hair and brown eyes. He was last seen on London Circuit in Civic wearing long dark-coloured pants and a long-sleeve dark-chequered shirt.

Police believe the man may be known to other Sudanese community members, and may have possibly travelled to Sydney.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of David is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

A photo of David has been presented on a diferent thread.

With luck, someone will recognise him and report in.

But in the meantime, perhaps we could be advised if his credit/bank cards/ mobile phone have been accessed,

Indicating that he has not disappeared off the face of the earth.

The Fuzz could do things a bit more proactively.

Anyone else want to tackle this one?

We need a photo to see how big his eyebrows are………

Okay, I’ll take the bait.

WTF is “African in appearance”? Like Afrikaans African? Or Egyptian African? Why not stop being clumsily PC and just say he is a Sudanese immigrant, or of Sudanese ethnicity. PC is fine – clumsy PC makes you look like a clumsy Police Constable.

I agree with you that this sounds clumsy. However, when trying to locate a missing person, it’s important to be understood by as many people as possible. Worldly chaps like you and I might be able to tell a Sudanese person from an Ethiopian or Namibian, but unfortunately, too many Australians would have no idea.

It’s all relative. Someone better informed than us may have a problem with your term “Sudanese ethnicity”. Sudanese is a nationality, and David is more likely to be from South Sudan anyway. If the Police had shown off and described poor David as of Nyimang ethnicity or a descendent of the Bisharin tribe, it wouldn’t have helped anyone recognise him on the street.

I think I seen him at the Olympic stadium running the 3000m Steeplechase.
