Have your say on park rejuvenation

John Hargreaves has put out a media release on plans to start having plans to address years of neglect by his government of Canberras urban parks.

Rather than cleaning up graffiti, picking up garbage, and fixing what’s broken, we’re going to have a series of public consultations and map out future directions.

“Park users are invited to discuss their ideas with Urban Services’ staff and hear more about the planning process at two information sessions.”

Glebe Park bandstand: 10 am – 12 noon, Saturday 6 May
Black Mountain Peninsula play area, off Garryowen Drive: 2 – 4 pm, Saturday 6 May

In case of wet weather, the venue for both sessions will change to the lobby of the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Binara Street, Canberra City. The same times will apply.

Personally I think a tastefull rent-by-the-hour hotel on Black Mountain Peninsular would be the greatest possible improvement for the bulk of the users of that park.

Good point Les, but we could get around that by institutin a ‘bear patrol’ with microlight spotter planes and hyper speed strike squads.

I think the overwhelming concern with any park rejuvination is that the drop bears are not disturbed.

Last thing we want is a bunch of angry drop bears roaming the streets, tipping over cars and defecating on your front porch.

Thumper, it’s FOR the West Papuans…

They’ll get to live there, tax free, on the Government for the rest of their lives while us, the taxpayer have to bear their and their descendents every whim.

what about same sex skate boards parks Heavs?

Don’t forget about the whales. And the East Timorese. They deserve a say in this too.

public stocks and gibbets.

Fine! I’ll go and build my own park, with blackjack, and hookers… ahh forget the whole thing.

Nah, just forget the park…

and this weeks ‘a packet of band-aids fixes all’ award goes to…

Fine! I’ll go and build my own park, with blackjack, and hookers… ahh forget the whole thing.

I have an idea.

Get people who are in public housing to pay a portion of their rent contribution towards improving the city, kind of like periodic detention but in return for shelter.

It’s either that or heavens forbid, paying somebody to do it in the form of a park groundskeeper or a janitor.

And most importantly, all new work must be totally bushfire proof!

And is non-gender specific!

I’ll only support this idea if the ACT Govt has any new plans approved by the UN before commencing work.
