This in from the AFP:

An 18-year-old Latham man will face court this morning (Thursday December 9) charged with two counts of drink driving and one count of driving while licence suspended, after police stopped him twice in two hours in the early hours of this morning.

Around 3am members of Belconnen Patrol conducted a traffic stop on a green Mitsubishi Lancer on Aikman Drive in Belconnen. The driver underwent a breath screening which returned a positive result.

The driver was taken to Belconnen Police Station where he returned a reading of 0.160. As the 18-year-old is a provisional licence holder and subject to a 0.00 limit, under the new legislation his licence was seized and his right to drive suspended for 90 days. He was informed he would be summonsed for the offence and offered a lift home due to the heavy rain, however the offer was declined.

Around 5am members of Belconnen Patrol again conducted a traffic stop on the same green coloured Mitsubishi Lancer on Emu Bank in Belconnen. The same male person was identified as being the driver and returned a positive screening result.

The driver was again taken back to Belconnen Police Station for breath analysis and returned a reading of 0.106.

The P-plate driver was arrested and taken to the ACT Regional Watch House where he has been charged and will face the ACT Magistrate’s Court this morning.

Bah! This is just Govt revenue raising..

Good to see this new 0.0 law is working.

“… offered a lift home due to the heavy rain, however the offer was declined”.

My mentally disabled younger brother reckons this guy is a retard 🙂

How the hell did he get his car back !?

I remember when my ex got busted drink driving, He had to go back and collect it the next day…

Some people are just idiots.

Well I suppose it was left on Aikman drive where he got picked up. Then he went back and got it himself, but the police were already waiting there for him.

It’s pretty funny. I demand to know how he will explain it away to the vetting officer when he applies for a PS job in a few years time.

I’m sure the courts will hand down a very severe punishment. At least $50 I’d guess.

Might even get some stern language from a judge if he continues to drink and drive like this.

This is clearly a human who has neither fear nor respect for the law.
