Hellenic issues?

Was just reading the john brennan thread and clicked on the asic link out of interest. When I clicked on the browse option, this came up as one of the first results:

Trading name: Hellenic Trattoria

So is anybody able to provide any further info on if this is the same as the hellenic club (which google seems to indicate) and if it is in serious danger of going under, which would be a shame because it is a nice place to go for a quick after work drink.

I haven’t visited the Hellenic trattoria in a few years. They changed chefs around 2008. This came with only a few variations to the menu, but a big drop in quality. Wife said her favourite dishes were “no longer made with love”. I certainly miss the stuffed mushrooms, and the mussels in broth they used to serve. I assume they still get a good work-lunch crowd, but I rarely walk by and see it packed in the evenings like it used to get around 2006/7.

I also noticed the woman who managed the place stopped smiling around 2008. Not sure if that related to the changes in the kitchen.

I think you will find that the Trattoria is the Greek restaurant on the ground floor of the place.

It is a great feed that is family run, it would definitely be ashamed if it goes!

It’s actually an Italian Restaurant and an excellent one at that.
There are some problems it appears but when I phoned them tonight I was assured that business is as usual.

🙂

An Italian restaurant, run by a Greek family in a Greek club with Greek food, sure I can live with that.

The only thing Greek about the Hellenic Club is the name. There is also an Asian restaurant in the club. Instead of casting aspersions on the people that have actually eaten there, why don’t you give it a try and post your critique on the RiotACT?

The restaurants within the Hellenic Club are all separate businesses with separate owners (that’s why there was a Ginseng in Manuka before the Hellenic). Any problems would be isolated to that business.

The trattoria are contractors within the club.
