The Independent Property Group have a pile of cash to give to charity, and are throwing together a bit of a community voting exercise to decide which charity deserves it most, by voting on who gets to decide where it goes.

All you have to do is nominate someone who you think would give the money to someone who deserves it.

Whose opinions on charity do you trust?

Your help is needed to start a Change Reaction for Charity

The Independent Property Group Foundation is again giving away $20,000 to one local charity with the assistance of the Canberra community as part of its highly popular ‘Change Reaction’ campaign.

The ‘Change Reaction’ campaign encourages Canberrans to nominate individuals who are actively involved in helping the community. The community at large then votes on who should be the ultimate ‘Community Hero’ who will then decide which charity receives the $20,000 donation.

Previous recipients of the Community Hero award are James Presneill, who won the April 2013 campaign and donated the funds to Red Frogs Australia, and Mel Eveille, who was the Community Hero in October 2012 and directed the $20,000 donation to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund).

13 individuals were nominated for the Community Hero award in the April 2013 ‘Change Reaction’ campaign, and 8000 votes were received, a sign that the campaign is capturing the interest of the community at large.

“We have the easy part in this process – the handing over of donation cheques, but the Change Reaction campaign allows us to find out about the myriad of people and organisations quietly providing assistance to members of our community that we may not otherwise know about,” Independent’s CEO John Runko said. “And the stories that we hear through the nomination process continue to inspire all of us at Independent to become more involved with helping out in any way we can.”

“We’re calling on all Canberrans to be part of the trigger for change in our community, and support our Change Reaction campaign.”

Public nominations and votes can be made until November 27th via Independent’s Facebook page at Facebook.com/IndependentPropertyGroup
