Hi everyone,

Not a particularly exciting post I know (especially after franks hyperdome car parking post). But with the recent heat all the worms in one of my worm farms died. I went to my normal supplier in pialligo (first time in ages) and they don’t seem to be there anymore 🙁

Does anyone know of anyone that sells compost worms around Canberra? I am hoping to keep my business local if possible.

Why not try Parliament House? Must be plenty of compost worms there.

Hi Hoolahawk

I bought 8000 compost worms, and a large specialized bin for them 3 months ago from http://www.kizanworms.com

They are going gangbusters, producing so much of that black gold that they make. They have doubled in that time. I have also used them to go fishing with, and I’m almost ready to divide them into a second bin.

I looked around locally, but they come and go, and it was easier to get them delivered to our door.

Try The Hayshed at Pialligo. They sell horse manure compost, and there’s a worm farm seller on-site. And if The Hayshed don’t have worms, I bet there’s another garden shop at Pialligo that does.

Try VermiFert – 1000 worms for $35, which includes delivery to Canberra (they’re based near Yass). Contact craig@vermifert.com.au or 0419 582 254

Margent Mart and Bunnings stock them. However I think there is a company that sells them at Pialligo called ‘back to the future’ (compost specialist) 7 Beltana Rd

+1 to Magnet Mart in Gungahlin.

Belconnen Bunnings has them.

You could contact the Canberra Organic Growers Society to find out if anybody still grows them commercially. I don’t know their contact number, but they have a journal, that you can find in most libraries. The journal would probably have an add, if there was a commercial outlet.
Please let us know if you find out; worms are our friends, we should appreciate them more.

Bunnings in Fyshwick had them last weekend.

I know he did last year, unsure of this year.
Worth a try

I saw some in the garden section at Magnet Mart Gungahlin when I was there a few weeks ago. Might be worth giving them a call to check.
