No not Uncle Henry but seminal Australian poet Henry Lawson after a fashion (well he did die in 1922). IBN bring the news that a sculpture of him that normally resides near the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney will be polished up and transported to the NGA for their upcoming George Lambert Retrospective.

A lot of the younger generation may not connect with either Lambert or Lawson (are either taught in school anymore?) but it’s worth remembering that Lawson was one of the prominent movers and shakers behind the suffrage movement in Australia.

The Australian War Memorial also has a current exhibition George Lambert: Gallipoli and Palestine landscapes. Which is on display until July 29. It also has an accompanying blog.

Both the exhibition and the blog are worth checking out.
