Hey parkers, it’s Monday!

Barcham 16 September 2013 34

So have any of you ever spotted your own car on here?

I wonder what that would be like? You’ve wandered in to have a good Monday laugh at some poor parking then you are suddenly faced with your own shortcomings as a parker.

Would you laugh?

Would you cry?

Would you swear never to park poorly again?

If you’ve got any pictures of other people (perhaps ever Rioters) parking badly, send them to images@the-riotact.com and get them before they get you!

Be sure to include the work “parking” in the subject and let us know what name you would like to be credited with.

1. An anonymous Rioter kicks us off this week with some classic examples of the poor parking artform:

I must get around to setting up my dash camera.

This afternoon I watched two ACT police cars (marked Australian Federal Police but with ACT number plates, so I presume they were ACT police) speeding through roadworks (two different sets), crossing solid white lines, and no lights or sirens. I am guessing there was an All Points Bulletin that Dunkin’ Donuts Civic branch were discounting the remainder of today’s stock.

Were they red?

No, normal police livery.

I wish i had a camera with me on Wednesday night.

Kambah Village Woolworths where there are 3 or 4 disabled parking spots outside. Black (or other dark coloured) 4wd with the number plate Mrsingh (sans le disability parking permit) had 3 big burly lads lumber on out of woolies with a load of goods and load up.

Given none of them looked particularlly mobility impaired, and there was no pass in the window, they were probably just another bunch of selfish mongrels…

I just have to share a parking anecdote. Parked in Dickson. At gym. Stuffed. Get out of gym. Walk to where parked. Use keyless entry: beep beep. Get into silver car. Note that is has become an automatic! Realise that this is not my car. Jump out. My car is parked two cars away. I think they had left their car unlocked.

So if anyone saw a woman in a daggy track suit apparently trying to steal their car, she wasn’t at all. It was just my classic poet moment of the day.

I obviously like spreading the humiliation.

I must say, I rarely bother locking my silver car, although if it ever turned up parked outside a gym, you would know that it had already been stolen.

Probably don’t have enough parking for everyone who lives there, as they expect everyone who lives there to be using the busses and therefore not to have cars. At best there is probably only one space per appartment but if two people live together and both have a car…isn’t rocket science

But many of the valid parking spots there are empty. It’s just that they’re not right outside the closest bit of concrete to individual residents’ flats.

If somebody wants to score the mother load of photos for next week’s parking – get yourselves down to the new flats between the Woden police station and Hindmarsh Drive (just east of the stormwater drain).

I guess the ressies there don’t believe in parking according to the signs as every night there are dozens of cars parked in various no stopping or no parking areas. I just don’t have a digital camera (or enough time to film all of them).

TAMS parking people – if you’re reading this – go and look at those flats – you’ll erase the national debt in one try if you did.

Not having enough allocated spaces isnt an excuse for parking illegally.

It’s not rocket science to consider if you have adequate room to safely and legally garage your cars when you intend to purchase or rent a property.

Have you seen the new-fangled gizmo called the interweb where it takes meer seconds to report things rather than 20 minutes on the phone?

https://www.canberraconnect.act.gov.au/app/answers/detail/a_id/1146/~/fix-my-street

Indeed I have, seems though that Canberra Connect struggle with it considering either they don’t check it (or they simply don’t give a crap). Nothing I’ve logged through that useless page ever gets fixed, or even followed up on.
Maybe they’re all just too busy doing… well, whatever Canberra Connect does these days.

Keep reporting it, request the updates too.
Some things I’ve reported once and within a week it’s been fixed.

It doesn’t always work thought, I know a guy that’s been reporting something for close to 3 years now. Tams have come out 2 or 3 times, acknowledged the issue, but still nothing has happened.

#11 has been sitting on the concrete island for over a week and a half now. Curious to see how many Police/Gov officials drive past it and don’t even blink an eye. Surely they’d be concerned about an abandoned car sitting at one of the busiest intersections in Canberra. Tried to call Canberra Connect to report it – was on hold for 20 mins so gave up.

That’s one of the best parking spots and the mall.

Yep, being a bogan & writing a moronic letter to the parking inspectors, when you’re totally in the wrong… winning!

I’ll make this easier.

If Busbooster was a few minutes earlier he would have scored a triple Merc ! There was a Mercedes parked in the loading zone, a Mercedes half in the loading zone and half in half out, and then the Mercedes you see in the pic !!

Although no one likes Audi drivers (#7), mostly because they smell like strong cheese (this is a scientific FACT), the winner this week has to be the sheer outrage of Mtb_rider (#12). Scratchy scratchy muggafugga!
