Hey RiotACT, what kind of bird is this?

Image of a bird of sorts.

Hey guys, you’re all super clever at answering these sorts of questions, that’s why Roundhead89 wants to ask you guys something:

I was in my backyard and a flock of birds descended. I took this pic and I was wondering if Rioters could positively identify it. I’ve always called them King Parrots. There seem to be a lot of them around lately.

I get them in my backyard too sometimes – eating from my neighbours oak tree that hangs over our fence.

it’s a ohmydoodlebird. It has no legs and when it lands it makes a sound very much like saying ohmydoodle

These parrots make a really nice bell-like noise, too.

They are so beautiful, but the cockatoos are still my favourites.

I don’t mind. They all taste delicious.

Bit beaky for me.

There’s one that is basically the reverse, green body and red wings. Is one the male and one the female? Lovely parrots around Canberra. I love how Rosellas are always in pairs.

What a handsome bird. All my yard attracts is Magpies and Peewees.

It is a mature male king parrot. The immature males are quite effeminate, you can’t tell them from their mums.

They will quite happily eat from your hand as long as the food is ok. Don’t expect to harvest any fruit they are here to harvest for you.

They love acorns from oak trees; in fact parrots and cockatoos love fruit seeds from all exotic plants and trees.
They are all looking forward to the juvenile trees budding at the Mount Rushmore Arboretum. What a mess they will make out there.

He’s a king parrot, and more importantly, he’s scoffing your olives. The local birds out my way have evidently been scoffing the local olives and pooing them on my deck.

I smell a business venture….
