Hide the drugs before drawing attention to yourself

A 24-year-old Griffith man was arrested overnight after police found a hydroponics setup and cannabis at his house.

About 10.35pm last night (Wednesday, July 6), police attended the man’s house in response to a noise complaint. After being admitted to the residence and speaking with the man, police observed an amount of drug paraphernalia, including syringes and what appeared to be cannabis in a bucket in the middle of the lounge room floor.

Police returned to execute a search warrant on the man’s property around 3am, and found cannabis and equipment for a hydroponics setup, including lighting and fertiliser.

The man was arrested and taken to the ACT Watch House for breach of bail and will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning. He is expected to be summonsed to face court at a later date on drug-related charges.

For those who have been “adversely” impacted upon by someone who is different. Print this out and send it off as reason to winge again. There’s not much left to take away really. Home, job, freedom. You wouldn’t know adversity if it hit you in the face.

Don’t stress too much Violet! I think you’ve held your own amazingly well on RA – against pretty strong alternative ‘arguments’. All in all, you’ve added plenty of healthy disagreement, which to me is a positive contribution to this site!

Yes, that’s right. I enjoy living vicariously through others.

Violet I’m not quite sure whether you understood my comment correctly – or if I understood your rejoinder – but I was actually trying to back you up.

Ever heard of enabling? You obviously dont give a crap about anyone else except you and your son. Unfortunately your sons behaviours have an effect on other people, and it’s your son.

Yes I’ve heard of enabling. What exactly is it that I am doing that you classify as enabling? Seeking treatment? He won’t be impacting on yourself or others for quite awhile now so you should be cheering. Out of sight. Out of mind.

Spideydog MH have conceded that he is unwell yet refuse to deal with the problem holistically so he has been left in the community for Police to deal with. I didn’t have a go at the Police in my initial comment (except for claiming to have found equipment they discovered weeks ago) so please don’t get on the Police bandwagon thingo again. The Police have been out there so many times over the past few weeks, they are probably fed up with it and decided to intervene. I do understand that.

I was expressing my frustration at the lack of an assertive response from the health system and disgust at people (not just my son) ending up in custody when there are such obvious health issues.
You should be happy. He is where the majority of people who have commented think he should be.
My comments, phone calls, attempts at getting services to work together etc have all failed. Looks like the AMC is where you end up if you have comorbidity issues. Only people with a “genuine” MI deserve treatment. Nothing is going to change because the majority likes it like that.

I do sympathise with you having to do deal with a family member with a mental health problem, but he is breaking the law and lets not forget that his continual drug use is only exacerbating his MH condition !!!!

I do agree MH help is not up to scratch, but blaming everyone for the issues when he is not doing anything to help himself, ie continually taking drugs. You should be thanking police for trying to intervene in his drug use, which in tun can only assist in his MH.

I’m not quite sure of what is happening in this thread but I know for sure that some people could sure use some hydroponics at the moment…

Right, everyone elses fault including the police for protecting neighbours, noted. I forgot that mental health issues make you turn to bucket bongs, hydro setups and intravenous drugs…

Where does it say bucket bongs? Where does it say the neighbours needed protecting? Where does it say the hydro was set up? Where does it mention intravenous drugs? Was he going to morph through the walls and attack the neighbours? Ever heard of co-morbidity? Wake up to yourself.

Rest assured you nosy do-gooder Jye will comply with his bail conditions quite fine!!! N thanks heaps 4 putting his name up hey.. really appreciate it!! TOP JOB!!!

Perhaps if the bail conditions were “realistic” they could have been adhered too. Perhaps if treatment had been given in the last few weeks the bail conditions could have been adhered to. Doesn’t matter now anyway. He’s in the AMC being punished and “fixed”. I’m sure he will come out all shiny and new.

Woah, hold up. You’re making a lot of assumptions there, just as earlier posts have done.

It’s deja vu – all over again!

Yep, sure is. After weeks of trying to get treatment and going round in circles, nothing changed. Groundhog month really. Oh well, they got themselves a real hardened criminal here. You are all much safer now. I don’t know how Police can take credit for finding the same equipment twice. I suppose it makes it sound more exciting.

One would hope that somewhere along the line, someone within the system would think hmmmm this guy is continually yelling and screaming and throwing things around in his flat lately. He doesn’t usually do this…..has a long history of mental health issues. Maybe he is not well?

Thanks to Dr Wim (not sure of the spelling) at PSU on Saturday night. Yes, you are unwell young man but there’s a shortage of beds at PSU and you don’t meet the threshold for admittal so off you go and make a voluntary decision to go to rehab and organise that yourself. Pop in to City Mental Health on Thursday if you can get yourself organised and remember what day it is. Either that or wait till you get arrested again. Plenty of beds in the AMC.

I fkn give up.
