ACT Policing intercepted a 31-year-old man for drink driving on Athllon Drive, Greenway yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, 5 August).

The man who was on a suspended provisional licence, was driving a white coloured Nissan Pintara sedan when he was stopped for a roadside breath screening test which returned a positive result.

The driver was taken into custody and conveyed to Tuggeranong Police Station where he underwent a breath analysis, which returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.243.

The man was issued an Immediate Suspension Notice and will be summonsed to appear in Court at a later date facing charges of high range prescribed concentration of alcohol, and driving whilst his right to drive was suspended.

That’s adorable, you think he’ll actually stay off the road

Hah!

+1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (so many zeroes, just call it a gajillion.)

These people won’t stop being a hazard on the road unless they are deprived of their car, their liberty, or their legs.

Jodhi Meares take note.

So he originally had a drivers licence.

But then he ended up with a provisional licence. Presumably because he’d been caught drink driving, or had committed some other offence.

But his provisional licence had been suspended. So he must’ve been caught drink driving or committing some other offence while on the provisional licence.

Unless I’ve misunderstood your meaning, I believe you are mixing up provisional and probationary licences.
A provisional licence is obtained after you have “held your learner licence for at least six months and either pass a practical driving test with a government licence examiner or undertake training and pass continuing assessment with an accredited driving instructor (the ‘log book’ system)”

Probationary is what one would go on to when returning from a licence suspension, eg for drink driving

And now, while on a suspended provisional licence (ie unlicensed and uninsured) he drives around with a .243 BAC.

I suspect that if he’s not put in the slammer he’ll be weaving drunkenly past you on a road somewhere in Canberra sometime soon because the absence of a licence doesn’t appear to stop him from driving. I wish they would at least publish the rego numbers of these clowns so that we can protect ourselves from them.

Wow. .243. That’s just silly. On a weekday.

Sounds like somebody who needs to be on income management.
