From their website Hike4hunger describe themselves thusly:

hike4hunger is an international community-led initiative to raise awareness about the global food crisis, build solidarity behind world hunger and encourage new behaviours in both the privileged and underprivileged worlds to close the gap.

To that end brave souls are setting off from 8am at Parliament House here in Canberra to walk up to the top of Mt Kosciusko. They plan to take 8 days.

Good luck to them!

adopted in 1997, the correct spelling of mainland australia’s tallest mountain is: mount kosciuszko…

and i understand the correct pronunciation is closer to ‘koz-choo-sko’ than the ‘kozzi-osco’ we’re used to. grateful any poles hereabouts could confirm?

but yes, indeed, good luck! i always love standing on the survey trig marker at the summit, knowing you’re the tallest person in australia at that moment… small things, i know… 😉
