A 23-year-old man from Eden, New South Wales will face ACT Magistrates Court this morning after being found in possession of a home-made shotgun.
About 8.15pm last night (Thursday, 12 September), Criminal Investigations detectives were conducting a mobile patrol of Clift Crescent, Richardson when they observed a yellow Toyota Hi-Ace van parked off the road.
During conversations with the man, the sole occupant of the vehicle, he informed police he had a loaded home-made shotgun wrapped in a towel behind the front seat of the van.
Police observed the barrel of the firearm protruding and seized it. The man was arrested and conveyed to the ACT Watch House.
Detectives executed a search warrant on the vehicle, during which they seized ammunition and an illegal dagger.
Police will oppose bail.
