Home security revisited

By Dacquiri - 18 September 2014 1

It’s been a few years since the matter of home security systems was discussed and, since I am currently poised to jump ship with the company I’ve been with for more than 10yrs (ADT) and switch to one about which I know very little (Chubb), it seemed a perfect time to ask what people’s experience has been.  Cost is certainly a factor, as is contactability and responsiveness (any time of the day or night), as well as general customer service.  ADT is more expensive for monitoring & service visits, but their monthly fee includes 2 annual patrol call-outs.  Their monitoring centre has always been contactable & has been able to provide tech advice over the phone, plus reliably contacting me if the alarm goes off.  Chubb is cheaper but doesn’t include any call-outs, and their Canberra operation seems to rely on one person (not contactable when I phoned today) and I was unable to contact a real person at their monitoring centre (in Brisbane), which also didn’t return my call, as per the arrangement on their recorded message system. So…any experiences, good or bad, with these companies?  (Yes, I know: ‘get a dog’, but that’s not an option at the moment.)

What’s Your opinion?

Haha even getting a dog has become expensive these days.

I have got CCTV cameras now and life is a bit more peaceful. Used a local mob in Canberra who does lot of home automation, I reckon you should give them a call as well.
