Honeycomb/cellular blinds recommendations

I’m looking at getting some new blinds and like the idea of the energy efficiency of the honeycomb blinds. There are so many blind companies though that I am finding it a bit overwhelming. I am keen to hear others’ recommendations.

I like supporting local business so I am looking at Watson Blinds but from a price point it will cost me half to buy online. Is the quality really different? Is it a case of you get what you pay for? Advice please?

Yes, I looked at this thread because we want blinds for the energy efficiency factor and saw the honeycomb blinds are reccomended.
I just got a quote for hoeny comb blinds from three companies this week
Both Kresta and Watsons are around $7,800 for 6 windows
Now seeing Leons comments about “Frame surrounds” I had another look
I can not see that specified on our quote
Kresta says “Face fitting”
Watsons says “Face Fit”
I like to support a local compay too but Watsons is so expensive
As a comparison we can get Solar panel generating electricity for the same price !
Seems like a lot for interior blinds
Help!

Yesterday – nine months, many phone calls and several site visits after our cellular blinds were first paid for and then installed – Kresta fitted window frame surrounds that will block the convection currents that had negated the blinds’ potential insulation benefits.

I recommend that, if you are having blinds installed, you withhold a proportion of the payment until the blinds have been satisfactorily installed. If the installer doesn’t agree, you can use someone else.

Today I phoned Kresta yet again. They said they would come out in two weeks to close off the air space between the blinds and the window frames, that allows cold air to circulate from the window into the room.

On Tuesday I phoned Kresta again. They said they would phone me back the same day.
They didn’t.
Still waiting, with poorly insulated windows through two of the coldest nights of the year.

Leon said :

Kresta installed the blinds with a 2 cm spacing between the frames, that allows cold air to fall down from the window and create a convection current that negates any insulation benefit.

I meant to say, “Kresta installed the blinds with a 2cm spacing between the blinds and the frames …”

Still waiting.

We bought cellular blinds last year from Kresta, in the expectation that their cellular blinds would provide winter insulation.
After discussing our needs with the salesman, he gave us specifications for wooden window frames that would be required so that they could fit them.
We built, stained and installed the wooden frames.
Kresta installed the blinds with a 2 cm spacing between the frames, that allows cold air to fall down from the window and create a convection current that negates any insulation benefit.
After arranging several inspections, Kresta finally agreed to build new window frames that could be attached to the ones we had built, and that would create an insulating air seal.
That was several months ago.
We’re still waiting.

I posted this thread in February that you might find useful! http://the-riotact.com/blind-company-recommendations/141370

I have honeycomb blinds and they are wonderful. The house keeps very warm. I can’t remember the name of the firm, but they are in Newcastle Street, I think on the corner of either Isa Street or Lyell Street.
