My chinks are pink, im covered in sweat and my ears are ringing. And Im loving every minute of it. No I havnet gone mentally insane, and no, this fat boy didint just run back from the shops with a packet of chips, I just saw the Hoodoo Gurus at the Venue in Erindale. The Gurus are sounding as good as ever, playing everything from the old stuff which we all know and love , plus several new ones, which im sure we will grow to love. They rocked out all night, starting with the classic “come any time” and never looked back, no fan, new or old would have walked away disapointed. Also must give kudos to the support bands, I picked up a cd from the first band, Quagmire who did a great job, and Im sure it will go into high rotation on my cd player, and the second act was also pretty amazing, I missed who it was but I wish I had half the talent that guy did. If anyone knows who it was please post below, he deserves the recognision.

The Venue is a great bar for live musifc, this is the first time I have been there since it got renovated, and let me say bravo to the owners, and Im sure this is the first of many concerts I will enjoy there. A fantastic night out for all.

[Ed (Jazz). Futto also sent in the following link to a couple of freebie downloads of the Hoodoo Guru’s songs. see below. Second act was Dan Hanrahan who had some amazing guitar work ad really got the crowd pumping.]

An aussie music site is giving away some new Hoodoo Gurus music for free.

From the site:

Liveband and the Hoodoo Gurus are offering two free downloads from their performance at the Apollo Bay Music Festival. This free download will only be available for four weeks, so if you know any Hoodoo Fans who would sell their mother for new recordings, send them here!

The Hoodoos are winging their way around the world for the next few weeks, but have just announced a Clash of the Titans Tour around Australia in September.

Why do I need to give my name, address, birthdate and so on for a “free” download?

Does the Venue have a website (I’ve had a vague look, but can’t find anything) that is advertising whats coming up. I always find out the day after that so and so was playing at the venue….

Den was it? typo on my part then

The other support was Den Hanrahan

Check it out!

I am listening to the Quagmire CD at the moment (thanks to Jules and Josh)- they were great, as was the venue too and the Gurus. Well worth the trip to the other side of town for this north sider….the cute lead singer of Quagmire didn’t hurt either 😉

Ntp and I were given a couple of comps by The Venue management and have to say had an absolute blast. They’ve done a great job of setting up the venue (I gather from my chat with tim that its a definate play on the naming) with a great room for gigs easily holding the 300+ over 35’s that packed in to see the Hoodoo Guru’s play.

Nik will be knocking up a review of the ‘The Venue’ later in the week
