Hoon in a Nissan Pulsar

Spotted this morning a driver in a nissan pulsar acting like a complete hoon while I was on the way to work.

He looked to be wearing a black cap (backwards) and blue sunglasses.

1st bit of hooning was a drag race from the lights on drakeford drive up the parkway with another car (Audi TT) and at pace.

I was trying to catch up to get the Audi TT reg and the Pulsar but could not catch either car, bloody street racers cars are quicker than my Decent Holden Barina which has NOS. After that I finally thought I was catching up to him to give him a piece of my mind when we were coming up to some bends, I slowed down cos I didnt wanna treat it like a race track but he just went flat out still.

In his defence the car handled like it was on rails, wouldnt look out of place at Eastern Creek!!!

Sadly I lost him and never saw him again this morning.

Strangely enough this is not the first time I’ve spotted him…seen him parked at the Mustang Ranch in Fyshwick.

Wonder what his Wife/Girlfriend would do if she found out, what a shame.

I really think we dont need such individuals in Canberra.

This is exactly why I moved from Broadmeadows…… Also why I was happy to see them cancel the V8 cars from racing around parliament. We dont need that. This is the Nation’s Capital! Not Kings Cross!!

[ED – not entirely sure I’m not being wound up here]

Oh the tears – and my tummy hurts from laughing so much.

I don’t know if you could make this stuff up. Pure gold!

i think audia have rubber bands supplied in the glovebox, chilled of course!

I just hope and pray that he had enough rubber bands for his rubber band gun, or anything might have happened. I fear the worst.

reading the above, i have come to the conclusion that this mcfly character was driving the audi, got smoked by a hoon, and is trying desperately to save his/her own bacon by fabricating a nitro-less barina. beep beep…

Marty, please be sure to provide an update. I don’t want this thread to end. It hurts, but it’s a good sort of hurt.

I’ve seen this Pulsar before. The thing has had some serious work done to it. The plates are impossible to read, that’s why you can’t buy those lime green and white ones anymore. All these old POS dodgey cars drive around with them on.

I wonder how Marty is getting on tonight, patrolling the streets like he’s in his own private Death Wish movie.

I can’t believe Marty is still writing about contacting Today Tonight and catching this dickhead Pulsar driver after this whole thread. It’s still just as entertaining as it was this afternoon. I probably would’ve given up by now.

I am led to believe that many of these hoons we see on the roads are drug runners for cartels located over the border in Queanbeyan. The cartels choose the best drivers to “work” for them and transport goods.

So whilst it appears they are racing they are probably making a delivery.

Sounds like someones been taking Grand Threft Auto or Saints Row storylines as reality.

By far the funniest post on this thread…..

Queanbeyan drug cartels employing Nissan Pulsar owners for drug running around Canberra, must have own car & drive like an idiot to attract attention,,,,, I love it!!

Got plenty of rubber bands for the rubber band gun? You’ll feel pretty silly if you run out in the middle of the War.

You’ll, You’re, whatever..

NOS in your pulsar? Or was it weapons grade plutonium??

Just watch out when you hit 88mph. You’ll gonna see some serious sh*t!

Maybe they should do a story on the shady underground vigilante taskforce operating on Canberra’s streets?

I want to see that against a 4wd. actually, I probably don’t…

Respect the law… the law will respect you.

You’re not the law, so we don’t have to.

When I gave him a “got your number” gesture, he flipped out…

I shall have to learn this gesture in order to use it in my offical capacity as an agent of the R(T)CTLTCAHTTPT

For accountability reasons I think that there should be an executive committee to oversee the advisory board’s management of the taskforce.

oops, that was meant to be ” funniest post”

Is it at all possible that Marty is pulling everyone’s collective legs? If so then he has succeeded! This has been the funniest possible in a good while!

If you try and citizen’s arrest me I’ll give you a good swift citizen’s kick in the nuts.

you mean, you can assault another driver and perform for the cops? pit maneuvers are a police tactic. if you have done advanced driving, do you know how to combat a pit attempt? cops do pit maneuvers. citizens recklessly endanger other drivers.

In reality you’re an entry level player in what’s a pretty competitive market here on RA. Let’s face it, there’s a conga-line of holier-than-thou road users here who have never committed a traffic offence and will queue up to tell you how wonderful they are and how bad the rest of us Canberra driver are that are already black belts at getting their panties in a knot about indicators, round-a-bouts, driving in the right hand lane and letting it all hand out on the parkway. You’re just a small fish in a big pond and they’re helping you find your place.

To improve your standing you could practice on some simple oxymoron’s … try a post decrying the truly appalling state of Canberra’s terrible roads and then back it up by arguing that Canberra drivers are inherently crap because of out incredibly good roads … that’ll get you started.

Never mind. You can still be a member of the Board for our Taskforce.

And, you could make a rubber band gun (need a peg, a ruler and lots of rubber bands) and shoot those miscreants, rather than running them off the road.

You are talking about something that has always been happening and will continue happening. There is nothing you can do to change it. And the fact that you are taking your concentration off the road while trying to catch up to these people and paying attention to getting their number plates, etc instead of paying attention to driving your own car safely is just stupidity. Are you a police officer? No. Then leave it up to them. The stupid drivers will eventually get caught. And making comments about running them off the road (and I was going to say something about the fact that you drive a Barina here but I think that’s happened enough!!) is just asking for people to make comments against what you’re saying. You can’t put a post up and expect everyone to agree with you. If you don’t like the fact that people have different opinions and that you may occasionally cop sh1t then don’t post anything up anymore.

I just don’t understand why people are abusing me when I’m trying to do good. is this what society has come to? terrible really.

today tonight won’t care a fig about a couple of idiots on the roads here.

I recommend that the alternative would be to ban all modded cars, yours included, to prevent bad behaviour. there is bad behaviour on the roads. we have all seen it. and some of us inform the authorities, or visit http://www.ratetheplate.com.au – why don’t you try that first next time?

Apologies for the spelling mistake.

Once again I will say (and yes I knwo I’m repeating!!), Marty you seriously have no life.

You sound just like the kind of person who would watch Today Tonight or ACA. Good luck with that Mr Vigilante.

I’ve just sent off a letter to my local member, hopefully something will be done about this. If we can get these hoons off the roads, it means less traffic to deal with, better for the environment and lastly because there will be less accidents, cost of health will decrease.

I’ve also sent in my statement of events to Channel 7’s Today Tonight.
I’ve included all these points in my letter. Until this sort of behavior gets taken seriously we’re just gonna land up with roads and traffic like in Africa.

It’s unaustralian to think people just wanna laugh and joke about serious matters 🙁

Marty you seriously have no life.

BTW, It does pay to complain sometimes. Several months ago, a young turd who looks like Ronaldinho, was tailgating every car along the Parkway, swerving in/outa gaps that just didnt exist, abusing other drivers, running red lights, not indicating at all(although who does these days). When I gave him a “got your number” gesture, he flipped out and gestured back that my neck was to be cut. Anyway, I reported his very dangerous driving habits to the Tugg Police, and was advised by them (as soon as i described him as a Sth American Soccer star)that it probabably wasnt a good idea too waste 1 second of my time on him, as he was “bit of a dangerous character”. Anyway, the Cops new him, and said they would give him a talking too. Dont know if they did anything!

Hey G-Fresh….. Marty, you’re a twat. Get over yourself you’re no law enforcer.

I am a twat too. That makes two of us. What’s your claim to fame?

Honestly, I didnt even know it had stopped. I was trying to find how often theyre required, when the intertubes told me its not required at all. I cant imagine at all why the inspection was stopped.

Quick google turned up this http://www.tams.act.gov.au/__data/assets/word_doc/0003/14466/vehicleinspectoutcome.doc

“The paper considered the costs associated with a number of vehicle inspection models and noted that a return to periodic inspections would significantly increase the cost to the community with no demonstrable additional road safety benefit.”

Apparently Labor looked at bringing it back, and only had 18 responses to their discussion paper.

The car is equipped for NOS. Just because the NOS bottle is removed, doesnt mean you remove the chassis strengthening, the upgraded brakes/suspension, etc. In the same way that if you upgrade a vehicle to turbocharged, that vehicle will be safer regardless of whether you push the turbo or not. My car used to be turbo’d, but after an engine swap I wasnt going to downgrade all parts to standard, just because the turbos gone.

The NOS is removed, this means the car doesn’t have NOS. My car has no hair-dryer on it, therefore it is not Turbocharged. Logical.

Chassis strengthening etc is another matter and doesn’t improve acceleration. A cars safety is more or less irrelevant, more poignant is a driver staying within the limits of a vehicles performance, no matter how it is modified. Best advice I would give in terms of keeping a Barina within its limits, is to leave it in the garage.

Umm, check you facts dude. Hawker is in the top ten suburbs in OZ, it just has a wide demographic.

And Marty, you are a nob and your uncle is a bigger one for setting up a Barina with NOS. And implying that they are of a certain persuasion for parking near the Mustang Ranch is really dumb because as you said, you were parked there too.

Canberra does not need another sexually confused, Barina driving vigilante.

I have pondered over this issue some more and think that people should have to catch the bus until 25 years of age, at such time they will be granted a licence but can only drive under the supervision of a senior citizen with 30 years+ experience in operating a motor vehicle.

This would minimise the hooning on the road, increase use of public transport and provide transport for senior citizens.

Lime green….hoon…
Carney back in town?

Get a rego or 2 ??

was hard to see the pulsars one cos it was a custom plate in the horrid lime green colour which made it hard to see from a distance… no idea about the audi, only saw it when they left the lights. Given the audi was a prestige car it would have prolly had personalised plates too. car was a silver colour. Pulsar was white.

I once saw a suicidally speeding psycho and had the opportunity to get the rego as he went past, except I couldn’t make out the numbers against the lime green. I rang the rego people to find out if lime greem plates are legal and they insisted they are and have no plans to change that. Nice one, licence plates that can’t be read, kinda negates the purpose of them doesn’t it?

This raises an interesting thought. I have had my current car (94 model) for almost 5 years and in that time I have never been asked to undergo a vehicle inspection. Looking at TAMS website, inspections are only required for change of owner, transfer to ACT rego, defect clearance or if the vehicle is unrego’d for 12 months. What ever happened to required bi-annual inspections? Surely if Stanhope wanted to make an impact on road safety, re-introducing vehicle inspections would be of major benefit.

Just because you don’t see it doesn’t, mean it’s not being done !!!!

Id like to see one example. One example where the police say ‘A member of the public called to report this dangerous driver, we apprehended the driver and he has been charged with numerous traffic offences’. Heck, even one example of ‘Police have issued a warning to a motorist observed driving erratically by a member of the public’ would do.. But all we seem to hear, is the police begging people to report dangerous driving, then often you see the same vehicles doing the same stupid things again, at same place/time as you reported.

I have seen MANY occasions where police have come onto the tv and praised the public for their help assisting police with the apprehension of offenders.

You do realise how many KM’s of roads there are in Canberra ?? Police cannot babysit every bad motorist and make sure they are not continuing with their bad driving.

Pretty much a case of damned if they do, damned if they don’t ……

I seem to remember a certain motorcyclists undoing at the hands ofone of JB’s colleagues open source intel gathering skills.

From there it was a hop skip and jump to a final result and conviction

[

Secondly I was reffering to the pulsar when i said I’d run him off the road.

I’m dumbstruck as to how people are happy to defend such actions and just brush it off.
unreal!

So defending road rage is better than defending hooning.

Surely this is a set up JB!

The entire system is installed for legal events that are held at Western Sydney International Dragway etc. the bottle is taken out afterwards as it is illegal to have whilst driving on public roads.
Hopefully this is the final time i’ll have to mention this. you may call me a nutbag but I just dont see why we need to put up with these hoons.

Someone who complains about drag racing, and speeds after said drivers? Alledges the object of the complaint frequents the Mustang Ranch? (Nice touch!) Suggests they will be able to run a car off the road that’s almost twice as heavy, fast, and better handling? (Barina vs TT..)

Troll! (.. or insane hypocrit, I guess.)

Please see my post above, I’m well aware of the legalities of modifications made to vehicles etc. like i said the bottle is not in the car now, and the work was all engineered.

nowhere did I say the pulsar frequents there, I’ve only spotted the car there before. the number plate gave it away.

Those of us truly concerned about the state of affairs on our roads could start an action group and target the key locations with our video cameras then hand it over to police.

I have a beta camcorder and tripod and am free on Thursday nights after 8pm.

We could have a uniform too, we can decide on the colours at our first meeting.

From people’s experiences written here, they’ve contacted police about dangerous drivers and have had a negative reaction from the AFP.

I’ve also sent through my story to the Canberra Times, hopefully they could perhaps use it to put a warning out to other motorists.

farnarkler said :

Why Bother ???? …. The information alone on here about where the vehicle was, what it was doing, it’s description (with distinctive custom lime green plate) is plenty for police to take action. Even if it doesn’t mean the driver of said doesn’t get prosecuted on this occasion, doesn’t mean that Police members that have not read this will not be keeping an active eye out for this vehicle now they know allegedly what, where it is doing it and what it looks like.

Knowledge is power.

Just because you don’t see it doesn’t, mean it’s not being done !!!!

aww, now the story is starting to change.

and then a covert speed camera caught me while performing my duties as a “law abiding” citizen!

2. It was a mod done by my uncle years ago. The NOS bottle isnt in the car as its illegal to have it whilst on public roads. The car has all the engineering paperwork for it.

I’m really convinced now that it was you in the pulsar or audi. why else would you try and defend their actions????? Do you take part in these activities knowing full well you’re putting other peoples lives at risk? you should be ashamed.

Seriously, funny rant though – I saw a hoon so I hooned to catch up and bust said hoon – another hoon followed me to bust me, and another hoon followed them to bust them and and and…

Ha Ha Ha
My point exactly.

The cartels choose the best drivers to “work” for them and transport goods

I heard that too, and they can drift all the way down all the mountains in Canberra whilst delivering, without spilling a drop of their coffee that is in their in dash cup holder.

One wonders, if you setup a video camera on some of these stretches of road where hoons frequent, would the police bother doing anything with the evidence? Since apparently police are too lazy (or too busy re-arresting bailed kidnappers) to ever bother sitting on the side of the road anymore these days, would they have any interest at all in the public doing it, or would they simply say ‘thanks but nothing we can do’ like usual?

It seems frustrating when you regularly see stupid/dangerous driving, and never seem to see police. Maybe I just spend too many hours on the road.

Lime green custom rego plate on a white nissan pulsar – not bad, pretty distinctive and should be pretty easy to keep an eye out for it …. 😉

I am led to believe that many of these hoons we see on the roads are drug runners for cartels located over the border in Queanbeyan. The cartels choose the best drivers to “work” for them and transport goods.

So whilst it appears they are racing they are probably making a delivery.

Hey – Clown Killer I meant no malice, other than to have a cheap shot at the south side. I got plently of hoons around my part of town.

I live on the south side and I drive an Audi (not a TT though), I don’t know about lower middle class socio-econmoic slums in the Tuggeranong district but I love Top Gear … but my Audi is only supposed to be filled with low-sulpher diesel so I probably wouldn’t chance it with Vin Disel?

Do you belong to that group i see hanging around Kambah called Rushing hours or something?
always there with their rubbish cars and hooning.

This rant is funny…

lol

Wednesday night there was a matt black car, Toyota Supra type with a huge rear wing doing drags down Barry Dve by ANU, with a white Subaru Forrester following, with some boy standing up out of the sunroof *sigh* They would lurk until there was no traffic and then floor it. They went through ANU for a bit (yes, hooning down those narrow twisty roads), and then up into Black Mountain Ridge 🙁

Marty, you’re a twat. Get over yourself you’re no law enforcer.

I don’t think anything has really changed except that cars are cheaper, faster, and more powerful each decade. Meathead drivers have and will always be around. They just have access to faster and more powerful weapons than ever before.

Yeah I saw the audi TT nearly nearly smash into another car on Drakeford this morning, weaving in and out of traffic.

Par for the course really in hicksville, I work down here and the drivers and driving is much worse than further north, more P platers it seems with nothing else to do.

what was the second piece of hooning? I was agog to read about that, but all we got was the first piece!

And can I just say for the record, if I catch him doing stupid stuff like that around me I’d have no issue running him off the road. It also begs the question whether licences are being handed out like sweets at a carnival.
