Hoons-More dollars than sense

I have noticed that the roads around Canberra suburbs are getting that Hoon signature- The burnout-everywhere!

After just having to get a new set of tyres for my car, I wonder, where do these idiots get cash to burn up $250 woth of tyres for a laugh? As well as looking really bad, it makes you wonder how safe you are going around your own neighbourhood and not getting hit by an out of control car. Most of the burnouts around here are near a primary school as well. What happens if one of these fools trys a burnout when the kids are coming out from school?

I know the police cant be everywhere, so that leaves all of us. If you see one of these mental giants playing in their cars, just take their number plate details and ring the police. If enough of us complain when they are doing it, maybe the police will go see them and have a word to them. This really has to stop in suburban streets, before someone looses it and hurts someone.

Oh and I am not having a go at hot cars either, My car has a 480 horsepower motor, but I am not a nitwit in it!

Doubt this is an issue of “a lack of Police or that they are too busy managing domestic matters”…More to the point “a like a lack of interest in detecting and preventing offences, specifically summary traffic offences”.

…oh hoh…I resemble that….not really but I feel the insult…how rude…what was place?….Tralee???

Spot on wraith.

Once they actually have to prove something to other than their short-d*ck mates, and require a car that is compliant with safety regs, the hoons won’t show up.

But the comments regarding it occuring in the middle of the night are 100% accurate. Try being around Wanniassa High at school knock off time (and there is a primary school nearby)

If Mr Stanhope had kept one of his many broken promises, and built a drag strip, a lot of this behaviour would disappear from public roads. its kids letting off steam, id rather they did it in a controlled environment than the road I live in.

Very true, as an ex-drag racer, with a proper dedicated race car, not a street car, the strip was great for getting a lot of people coming in and having a go as well having a National class strip in Canberra for all the local racers here, the strip surface at that time was the best in the country.

However, all the snot rod drivers who spent buckets of cash on their cars with no clue attached still wouldn’t come, too afraid of being shown up, so they would keep their practice of midnight burnouts alive anyway.

Don’t get me wrong, would love to see a strip back, I race bikes now and would love to put the bike down the strip as well as the circuit.

Uncle Jon just doesn’t get it, perhaps he can use funds from the new point to point cameras to fulfill the promise of a strip, at least then the cameras will be creating something useful.

Proof, of a Darwinian nature, that money cannot buy you class.

Indigo and Jackson Packer being another example

Wow, what a helpful post…

I went out the other day for a drive, there were plenty of Police around.

I know, I know they must have their priorities wrong, I mean between 12 and 3am they should be in all the streets pulling over cars blah blah blah…

It is unfortunate that around that time I’m guessing there isn’t really that many Police on and they are most probably dealing with families that have just gotten drunk and tried to kill each other….

I think you should go to the next Neighborhood watch meeting Tony and set them straight, tell them how to do their jobs!

I don’t think that these kids are gonna go do a nice set of 11’s on the road, just to go buy some new tires, whats the point in that? Then you have really grippy tires that wont do as good a burnout!!

We need an area in the ACT where kids can be kids in their cars, they can go do burnouts, drift around some corners, smash into walls, talk on their mobile phones, you know that kinda thing, let them get it out of their system, in an area that is sufficiently supervised of course….

I’m sorry, but there is no time or place on public roads or in public car parks for burnouts. And I would suggest that the fact there are so many brain-dead morons on this planet is the cause of this kind of behaviour, rather than an inadequate police presence.

Maybe we need to hook up Psygorian here with the South Side Slasher.

Sure, burnouts can be fun, but there’s a time and a place; inconsiderately waving your V8 penis around at 3am on a Tuesday outside my house satisfies neither of those criteria.

“My car has a 480 horsepower motor” Built or bought? and what?

I live on one of those hoon/burnout roads. Very close to a primary school too. I’ve never seen them do it during the day, so risk to kids is low. In my case it happens between 10.20-12.30 at night. It can be really hard to get the plates when said car is zooming past you at about 140km/h, so I started keeping a log of the general description of the cars, times, what they were doing etc. There turned out to be a pattern. I took that information to my local police station and voila! police car noisily chasing said nasty driver down my road less than 48 hours later. He hasn’t been back since. I wonder why…..

Very well played…

V8 + Southern Cross tat = BOGAN!

@Sammy, haha, nice observation.

Firstly, the assumption that a car doing a burnout is out of control is a misnomer fed by the likes of ACA and Today Tonight.

Secondly, most burnouts would be done in the wee hours of the night, not when school kids are about to cross the road. You don’t even need to be a mental giant to figure that one out for yourself.

Thirdly, here’s a tip, if you’re going to have a go at people for lacking smarts, learn how to spell.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, some people find doing burnouts fun. It’s as simple as that. But I agree, public roads are not the place, best left for Summernats. Still, laying some rubber late at night in an empty car park is a lot better than any number of alternate activities that probably enter the minds of such participants.

Your car has a 480 horsepower motor, and you’re only spending $250 on a set of tyres?

You have your priorities wrong.

Not enough police patrolling the streets is the cause of this and the other idiotic activities on the roads.
