Horse for lease or to exercise in Canberra?

I am looking to lease a horse within the ACT or surrounds, or regularly exercise on behalf of the owner, but not sure where to find information about this, having just moved to Canberra a few months ago.

Any advice?

There is nothing suitable at the time of writing on Allclassifieds or similar websites.

I am a confident rider, but not looking to compete – just hacking around the trails and maybe receiving some instruction in the near future.

Thanks in advance.

City Slickers, I think we could organise a Riot ACT kangaroo drive to the killing pits.
Horses please.

try contacting a horse riding school/agistment place – eg Canberra Equestrian Centre, Forest park etc – there are plenty in the yellow pages.
There are often horse owners looking for someone such as you

Hello, some not so helpful comments but quite funny.

Maybe you could try and place a notice at the local agisments around town. (Or ring them and see what they suggest)

I have a little place close to Canberra,it’s on a slight hill, small white building(suited to animals),with a great view of Anzac Parade, just across a semi private lake.Drop in and see my.

PS; I am only there for 23 day’s a year.So the rest of the time it’s your’s.

The best way I know of is going to the trouble of going round the equestrian centres and saddleries and putting up a flyer.

Why would you lease one when they’re so cheap to buy?

Leasing is fraught with legalities. e.g. what happens / who pays if the horse bolts and breaks a leg? or gets sick? or… (touch-wood that none of it happens) Unless your next of kin is a solicitor (in which case you’d hardly consider leasing in the first place) l wouldn’t go near leasing.

I’d suggest asking at http://www.bushcapital.org.au/forum/

It’s a local horse forum, and I’d say you’ll get a better response from there. Good luck!
