Andrew Barr has announced that he’s approved the plans for the hospital car park which he contentiously called in from the planning approval process.

Well, it’s not like he called them in to reject them is it?

But at least the hospital expansion process can be moving on.

Wouldn’t it just be nice to have something they put insane dollars into replacing (re-inventing) – actually work better than it did in first place round Canberra.

I like surprises! Shame I barely get any.

The carpark is to be built were the current multi-storey carpark now stands, so for the next few months parking in the hospital will be terrible.

As opposed to now, when public parking is…terrible

So they’re replacing a car park… with a car park? Better than replacing it with office buildings like the rest of the city, I suppose.

It seems from today’s CT that the call-in was a response to a letter to the editor, of all things. The writer of that letter must be in awe of the power of his own words.

The call in process is an abuse of power practiced by politicians who want to stifle criticism and debate.

Congratulations Andrew- you are now a ‘politician’- with all the loathsome, vile implications that word connotes.

14A is part of the Medical Oncology Ward (14B keeps Cancer patients for more then a day). The grand plan is for Medical Oncology to join Radiation for one big Cancer ward. When I was last there 2 or so weeks ago the receptionists were packing boxes with the plan on moving somewhere down stairs the following week.

What a surprise, approved a whole week and a half or so since he decided to use the call in power. Proper process at its best.

Where is this new carpark? What is this new centre you speak of? Why have they moved 14A downstairs? There doesn’t seem to be much information on the net in regards to TCH capital works project.

Barr & Co seem terrified of some unspoken but obviously damaging opposition to this apparently innocuous carpark.

When are we to be privvy to this overwhelming force requiring the call in powers to neutralise it?

all will be revealed soon i suspect

Well Ward 14A were starting to move down stairs recently. I haven’t been there for a few weeks, so I don’t know how it is going.

Plans for the new centre aren’t even finalised yet.
