Hospital family room open or shut?

The Ronald McDonald family room in the Canberra Hospital opened sometime early in June (I wrote a rather boring story for CityNews on it) but if Vicki Dunne is to be believed, it closed again at the end of June.

The RMD room is a place for families of sick kids in the children’s ward to releax and get some decent sleep. If I remember correctly, it has a kitchen, living area, bathroom and some bedrooms.

Vicki Dunne says she asked awkward questions of the minister responsible (that’d be Simon Corbell) on Friday and soon afterwards the room was opened again. The ABC have four sentences about the reopening here.

So what exactly is going on with all this? Maybe the room wasn’t actually finished when it was originally opened but they’d already booked the GG’s wife and had to go ahead with it anyway. Anyone got any better idea?

The room was in the middle of a construction area and had a leaky ceiling which had only just got fixed apparently.
