The ACT Australian Hotels Association has expressed their displeasure that the publicly funded Floriade has not been sufficiently set up to enrich their members.
“While the sector strongly supports the annual Floriade festival as a major tourist drawcard, industry believes the event could be reinvigorated to maximise economic returns to the ACT and help boost the local hospitality sector,” Mr Watts said.
“There’s no doubt that thousands of tourists are lured by Floriade’s ‘flower power’ however there is a potential to grow the event and evolve the overall experience for interstate and international tourists. We need to encourage visitors to stay for consecutive nights to inject more money into the local economy.”
Maybe Brad’s members could club together to fund their own events to attract their visitors?
Nah, government welfare is for the rich and powerful, particularly those who can invite Ministers to lunch.
