How to Make Sure Your Card gets through

After having lunch today with someone working at Australia Post, they let me know that if you really want your Christmas Cards to get through this year then follow these 3 steps.

1. Buy Australia Post envelopes, because they are made to survive the various large sorting machines that the envelopes go through. All the cheaper ones you get from the supermarket or elsewhere come right open or fall apart when going through the sorting machines.
2. Use sticky tape. It may look unsightly and there are always plenty of warnings about packages with too much sticky tape on your bomb threat cards at work, but really, sticky tape makes sure what you are sending gets there in one piece.
3. Don’t use Staples. They hurt the hands of the people working there.

Follow these 3 simples ideas when sending cards this Christmas so you don’t recieve, like some friends of mine, a blank card with a stamp, and a blank space that probably had an endearing Christmas message and an amusing photo of the senders family.

Mrs Danman ordered a fetta making kit for yours truly on Wednesday – paid by credit card – from Little River distric of Country Vic – it arrived on thursday afternoon.

What what what?! a Fetta making kit?! Where from, who sells them? I love fetta and Mother Nature’s in Qbn have suddnely stopped selling the 2-litre buckets of it.

Yeah, it’s the Tarantula from Cool Things. I haven’t seen it, as they giftwrapped it as well! I got a RC helicopter from Zazz last year (the one that’s like a mosquito) so the spider will join it. Didn’t realise the shops were full of them, I haven’t seen any but I don’t go in toyshops generally (full of screaming kids).

I ordered a remote control Spider from Tasmania on Wednesday.

What is a remote control spider? And are they made in Tasmania?

mucked around with one at myer tuggeranong a while back. I am more interested in the RC Scorpion, though.

I hate creepy crawlies, but just had agreat idea… I’m going to invent both Remote Control Mortene and a giant RC Shoe to take on your spider and scorpions!

Berraboy, you haven’t been overrun by massive bull ants in your neck of the woods, have you?

up on my street near theos, there are hundreds of the buggers.

Mirage, if you’re not having a dig – thats pretty poor… 30 hrs to AU is awesome, but dragging the chain on the final leg is a bit of a dissapointment – though 3 to 4 days total to get something from the states is always pretty good in my experience.

Last year I ordered a ladder for my jetty from North Carolina USA. It took about 30 hours to get to Fyshwick, quicker than I could get to NC by commercial air I’m sure. However it took 2 days to be delivered from there to my place at Melba (not Aust. post however).

I hear RC helicopters are the new “Toy” of choice this year.

Thats awesome turnaround – probably 26 hours or so…

By the way, Target in the city was overflowing with remote control spiders and scorpions t’other day. :\

That’s all well and good che, but it doesn’t tell me where to buy a cup of coffee.

What are cards?

Whatsup @ 2: Southside near the Lanyon Exchange. Anything posted in that red box between 4pm Sat and 9am Sunday is completely destroyed.

Ant@ 4 – The Tarantula? Is it as cool as it looked?

I quite frankly can’t understand how they did it so fast but Australia Post are pretty impressive.

I couldn’t agree more. I have lived in some of the most remote areas of Australia and normal post has always been extremely timely.

And it is really incredibly inexpensive, even for express parcels.

I ordered a remote control Spider from Tasmania on Wednesday. On Thursday the card was in my mail box (in a rural area) and on friday I got it from the Post Office. I quite frankly can’t understand how they did it so fast but Australia Post are pretty impressive.

Also be wary about posting your cards in an Australia Post red postbox beside the road. I used one to post a Christmas presents to relatives this weekend and unfortunately drove past it a few hours later to find it had been completely destroyed (red postbox plus all its contents, including my packages) by crackers.

For the benefit of anyone else who may have used that red post box can you please let us know the location.
