ACT Policing is responding to an attempted aggravated robbery at Hughes Shops (Monday, September 19) which occurred this afternoon.

About 2.35 pm a man entered the Hughes Post Office with a knife and what appears to be a replica firearm, demanding money. When refused, the offender fled the scene, leaving the weapons behind.

The offender was last seen headed towards Carroll Street, behind the shops.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, between 35 to 45 years of age, about 5’10” (178cm) tall with a solid build. He has short, dark blond hair, clean shaven and was wearing a black pin-stripe long sleeve shirt, dark coloured trousers and a hat. The hat was dropped at the scene.

Anyone who may be able to assist police with the investigation is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

Robbery… you’re doing it wrong

Won’t take long until they catch him, they’ve got his weapon (possibly prints), and his hat (with dna), and most likely CCTV footage (his face/build etc)

$20 says he’ll be back for the hat.
