The Chief Minister’s media release site has, at the time of writing, been inactive since 24-Jun-05. However just because the Chief Minister has stopped communicating directly with the public hasn’t stopped him bemoaning the human rights failures of the federal government to the ABC and a human rights conference.
Mr Stanhope says Australia’s security laws allow for detention and interrogation of suspects without the right of appeal.
He says it is a fundamental breach of justice that cannot go unchallenged.
I happen to agree with him on the severity of the issue but, as I put no trust in princes, consider it both par for the course and something likely to go unchallenged in all probability.
So it was perhaps a tad unkind of big Zed Seselja to draw attention to the human right’s abuses committed by Mr. Stanhope’s government on children in it’s care.
Shadow Minister for Youth, Zed Seselja, will today move a motion in the Legislative Assembly calling on the Minister to immediately address admitted breaches of the Human Rights Act, in relation to Quamby Youth Detention Centre.
