Huxley heads South

The ABC brings word that Brumbies utility and compulsive kicker of the ball is leaving the team and going to Melbourne where between Huxley and the ever more aged Stirling Mortlock they’re going to have an exceedingly pedestrian back line.

Having nursed Huxley on the sideline while he recovered from a brain tumour the Brumbies will probably feel a bit disappointed.

On the other hand after the shocker he had against the Crusaders, maybe not so much.

In other news, the only functioning part of the coaching staff (Owen Finegan and Bill Young in the forwards) are leaving the club and Rocky Elsom is reportedly waiting to see what the coaching structure will be before he decides on taking the second year option on his contract.

It’s pretty slack that you would not show loyalty to a club that supported you for years with a life threatening disease then allowed you to slot straight back into the side.

I find this to be very sad, really. It is clear that he is playing on simply to make a statement – that you can come back after suffering a serious illness. If he hadn’t had the tumour he probably would have retired by now, but now – at the age of 34 – he is going to a new team to try and rekindle his rugby career. Mike Carlton called Alan Jones a sick man chained to a microphone. It is clear that Huxley is the rugby equivalent.

This for me is the best news all season.

I wonder what the ACT will do with all the additional health money.

Captain Bedsores has been sapping the ACT Health budget for the last three years.
I hear that they are thinking of building a statue of Matlock at Calvary Hospital.

Now to find that Fuxley is on his way south, I am over the moon.
Adam two-dads will be able to play a full season at fullback and guarantee himself a wallaby guernsey.

The loss of Melon Finegan and Bill Young Jnr (publican) is extremely bad news – they have really injected power and discipline into our young pack.
