There’s an active fault-thingy at Bowning that goes off on a regular basis.

Note the article in yesterdays Canberra Times:
Did the earth move for you? No, but that was a real blast

Geoscience Australia now say it was most likely an explosion.
They may be right but the land from Hall to Murrumbateman is not exactly unpopulated, somebody must have been close to the source “explosion”. I am amazed that such an event is still a mystery several days later.

It’s a freaky feeling. I was sitting on a couch years ago when an earthquake hit and the whole house sort of wobbled.

I was in the Earthquake house with the kids at Questacon. It was really bad, kitchen doors flew open, the walls cracked and opened up and the floor shook violently.

Crikey, the same thing happened to me when I was in the Questacon earthquake house. Spooky. Maybe it’s on a fault line?

The doors and windows at the back of my house in Lyneham shook for a few seconds – although the noise I heard sounded like someone had thrown a couple of basketballs directly at them. I actually got up and had a look outside in case it was a shower of golfballs from Yowani.

Right about the time of the Hall shudder I was in the Earthquake house with the kids at Questacon. It was really bad, kitchen doors flew open, the walls cracked and opened up and the floor shook violently. I had to chuckle when I saw the news, timing huh !

Re #6 [Apparently it was from a loud explosion at the quarry at Hall.]
Could you please tell, where is this quarry at Hall ?
I have not heard any blasting over the months.

Not I. However, S.O. Lenient commented otherwise. Also Person-In-(common or otherwise)Law’s clock fell off the wall.

The earth moved in Evatt. Actually, I thought it was a minor earthquake centred between Yass ans Murrumbateman. Think I read that in CT.

Apparently it was from a loud explosion at the quarry at Hall.

Felt it in Kaleen, … house shook a little

Didn’t notice anything in Hackett – we probably just thought it was a plane going over.

Yeah, I felt that over in Charnwood.

I checked the house because I thought a bookshelf or something had fallen over!

Yes, loud noise inner north, wondered what it was. Didn’t feel house shake .

It was Friday 12th, not the 13th.
Very loud bang in Harcourt Hill, the house shook for a coupla seconds, we thought sound came from direction of new construction at Casey but they were stopped for rain I think. Sounded like a vehicle hitting a wall or maybe a large steel plate thrown down from a truck. Surprising that the earth moving can make such a sound.
