Perhaps in an inevitable aftermath of Jake White deciding his contract wasn’t worth much News has word of the possibility Brumbies Captain Ben Mowen could be off to France because the Australian Rugby Union is cheaping out on him:

Mowen is understood to be frustrated because he is not receiving a top-up contract from the ARU despite being a regular starter in the team – and the national captain against Argentina in Perth.

Mowen agreed to terms with the Brumbies until 2015, on the proviso he also gets an ARU top-up, which is not forthcoming.

Let’s hope the ARU sees reason and comes to the party.

White’s departure will cause an exodus of players who came to the team solely because of him. Pocock will be next…

Maybe certain ARU hierarchy could divert some of the ARU funds regularly spent on generous Friday lunches at Chairman & Yip into a “Keep Mowen in Canberra” fund!!
