If "The winning percentage of a football team has got absolutely no correlation with the ability of a coach" why have one?

The Canberra Times has a very strange interview with John McIntyre, the Canberra Raiders supremo.

In an article full of weirdness (Coach Furner is going nowhere is something the fans have been saying for years) we come to this statement:

The winning percentage of a football team has got absolutely no correlation with the ability of a coach.

If true we can suggest where some savings can be made! What a waste of money.

Heck if there’s no correlation I’ll take over the coaching in exchange for dinner with the least unwilling Raiderette. Same result according to McIntyre logic right?

I tried reading that interview but little McIntyre said made much sense. Though I barrack for another team, I like to see Raiders win. They did the Knights tonight, but what chance have they really with a Chairman that’s off his head and a coach that can’t make much headway in the comp. How does one sack the chairman and board?

I think either the captain should double as a coach, or at least that current ones didn’t get praised or vilified for the performance of their team.

If they weren’t so financial all the clowns running the club would have been gone years ago. No need to wonder why they will be last this year with that moron in charge.
