Illawarrens want to be Canberrans

Jon Stanhope is touting the success of the latest Live in Canberra campaign, which targeted the Illawarra region.

Mr Stanhope said the campaign team has been “swamped with enquiries and “met face-to-face with more than 250 residents during sessions in Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama and Nowra”.

He also said the campaign has been “even more successful” than last year’s targeting of south Sydney residents. One wonders if that may be an admission that last year’s campaign wasn’t particularly successful for all the money spent on it.

Apparently some Illawarrens have already found “suitable” jobs in Canberra and are set to move here anytime now (meanwhile, this Canberra resident will be moving to the Illawarra next week because of a lack of suitable jobs here). Of course, it could just be a lack of nightlife and entertainment down on the coast that’s driving the move.

Anyway, the 250+ people who went to see what all the fuss about Canberra was may live to regret it, since “the Live in Canberra team … will continue to maintain contact with those Illawarra residents interested in moving to the National Capital”. Poor buggers.

Queanbeyan sans la merde.

(OK, un peu de la merde).

Queanbeyan sur la mer

Rule of thumb when in doubt:

BogAn, not bogEn.

After Glaswegians, after Norwegians… Personally I dislike Glaswegian as well as Taswegian (especially since Tasmanian is fine)…

But Kerces, if it’s Canberran (not Canberren) it’s Illawarran.

Because -warren works better for me than -warran.

Why Taswegians?

if they’re from illawarrA, why aren’t they ‘illawarrAns’, not ‘Ens’? just curious…

will they be boosting the economy of causeway and cambpell? or moving in with like in belco and tuggers?

West Belco would be ok…just without the beach, it’s much the same.

I’m sure most of them will reconsider once they discover how damn hard/expensive it is to buy/rent a house here.

I like the surrounds as well, spend a considerable part of my life in the area…..still chock full of bogans though

So did I, and I like it.

I assume you know I was forced to visit there a few weeks ago?

That and I am an expert in bogan identification

You’d know bud.

Bogan central

I moved from Wollongong about 8 years ago… I like going back for holidays but wouldn’t move back there.

Got a job down there Kerces?

Funny, I yearn to move back to Wollongong!
