fluff at ANU

Geoff from Lushpup has sent in this cracking photo with the following note:

This is the view looking down toward Union Court at the ANU. The fluff is from the plethora of cottonwood trees all bursting forth. I think they must be responding to the decent rain of late because the volume of fluff is extraordinary. It was like blizzard down there.

You can also see the fluff phenomenon at this time of year along Canberra Ave near the Fyshwick CIT. I’ve never seen it captured as well as the OP though, great shot!

I feel like I have to hold my breath when I am walking through it haha. Great shot Geoff as always 🙂

Cool pic. I hate this fluff. If it is a windy day, they get into my apartment from under my front door.

Great Pic – Snow in Spring in Canberra. The fluff is the infertile female flowers of White Poplar, which fall and form ‘fluff balls’.

Poplars… I knew it! When I was pregnant I got some of this stuff in my throat and it made me throw up. A pregnant woman’s body knows Bad Stuff when she eats it.

Noooo it’s the fluff monster! I was riding into Civic this week and had it in my eyes, mouth, lungs, it won’t go away! I’m sad to say I’ve switched back to the car 🙁

A wonderful pic. Geoff from Lushpup, stop studying Economics and get into photography.

great shot. The recently planted daisy plants (you know, those blue purple ones) are completely covered in fluff and look just like a white afroed person has been buried up to their eyebrows. Or a cloud, if you were poetic.

it was always a sign when the fluff came… if you hadn’t started studying for exams yet, you’re screwed.

it also signifies the start of the beer garden season.

Awesome pic!
