John Phillips has kindly sent in the following photo of a sunset over the mountains taken in Kambah. Sadly it got caught in my spam bucket so my apologies to him for the delay.

The colours are as they came off my camera (Olympus C740), it is deliberatly underexposed by about 2 stops, which does make the photo more dramatic, but no photoshopping or anything except to make the photo more web and email friendly.

If that’s what one small grassfire does, now we know what sunsets around the world looked like after Krakatoa (1883?). Too bad no-one was running around with digicams then.

Traffic fumes make for some pretty spectacular sunsets actually…

There’s nothing like watching CO2 and CO3 etc mixing with the atmospheric layer of the ionosphere, although from the ground zero point of view, actually being able to see that far would be quite an achievement…

That’s because you can’t see sunsets in Sydney, for the traffic fumes.

Nice pic – wish ‘d taken it yself. Canberra sunsets are often spectacular – they were one of the first big differences I noticed after moving out of Sydney.

Almost makes you look forward to the nuclear holocaust…

Purdy… *Sighs*……

Are those colours for real?
