Images of Canberra - City of Frosts and Fogs

Red_dog has sent this one in with the following note:

It’s 0630, it’s cold, it’s very foggy … what do you do? You go out and take photos of course 🙂 … and most of the time you’re thinking that your warm doona is but a distant memory. This was taken this morning down on Dunrossil Drive on the way to Quentin’s place.

Incredible photo 🙂

I am also a fan, Red_dog! Please keep them coming!

Lushpup takes awesome photos – his live music one’s are great too.

Absolutely gorgeous photo. You’ve got a great eye red_dog!

You might not see the scene quite like that, Jivrashia. Good photography enhances the scene, or changes it, as this one has. It really is a bloody marvellous shot.

Half-expecting to see the Headless Horseman appear out of that fog.

*ROFL*
Is this something one can see regularly during Canberra’s winter? or was it a one-off chance like all good photography?
If it’s regular, then next Saturday I’m hopping on my bicycle to get there at 6:30am to see this wonderous scenary, AND the headless horseman!

No problem opening the link this time. Nice work Red_dog 🙂

A really excellent pic Red_dog.

Me. I want to drive along that road in my low, sleek, black, late model Kraftfahrzeug, with mein kinder asleep in his/her baby-capsule.

I expect a large swirl of leaves in my wake.

I can’t believe this is Canberra! As someone else said, it looks very European.

Hi,
thanks for all the fantastic comments and to the clever poster who found the larger version. (the copy I sent to JB this morning was about 2x this one but I’m thinking he was a bit busy and forgot to link the larger one)

There’s a larger version at http://www.carasmello.net/lushpup/galleries/recent/recent.html … it’s the most recent so it’s first 😉 … there’s a full screen button at the bottom right of the viewer … hit that and you’ll be there in the fog too.

@Jim Jones – take your point about the personal details … feel free to email me directly. There’s a link to a contact page from the page referred to above.

Thanks again everybody – this morning feels a world away already!

I am in awe of some of these photos on that website!
Would love to have seen what you would do with the clouds of steam coming off the rugby players on Saturday night…

Any of your stuff avaiable online Jim?

If you wanna send a snail mail address to me via johnboy, I’ll send you a couple of CDs. As fond of gratuitous self-promotion as I am, I’d rather avoid posting too many personal details here.

Wilco!!

Beautiful!
I couldn’t get the larger version to load though 🙁

That’s completely awesome. I’d really really really like to use that for an album cover – JB, can you put me in touch with red_dog, or pass my email to him/her?

What sort of music do you do Jim?

That would be a good cover for some “post rock” or gulp emo/goth…

Yeah, it would work well for post-rock.

I pretty much play metal (in a number of different guises) the band I’d like to use it for plays doom: slow-paced melancholia).

Lovely!

Thanks for sharing.

What a gorgeous shot – are these already available for sale through the lushpup photography website?

Gungahlin Al12:05 pm 15 Jun 09

Wish I could zoom in to see it a bit more clearly.

Why is it that the best scenery/fishing/etc etc are always in the crappiest conditions? 🙂

you should be a Cinematographer.

That image wouldn’t look out of place in a Gothic Horror film e.g. Pan’s Labyrinth.
Breathtakingly beautiful at the same time.
