On Saturday 08-APR-06 we did the Civic Public Art Walking Tour and lived to tell the tale.

And so, I present to you item # 21, Living Space by Kunstforce (no, not making it up). It’s on City Walk next to the Canberra Times fountain.

Living Space - by Kunstforce

It is, apparently, a matching lounge ensemble for the city centre.

That’s right areaman. I noticed it had disappeared a few years back and, scrambling round for some kind of interesting story I could turn into a uni assignment, rang urban services to ask what had happened to it. The nice lady there said pretty much what you just said; that it was originally intended to be temporary but they got such an overwhelming public response to it they took it away and gave it a proper powder coating to make it more durable.

I dunno if its related.. but “Kunst” in German means ART

I think it was originally just going to be a temporary thing, but they got so much positive feedback about the piece that the government ended up buying it.

Not making this up? Before the image loaded i thought you were refering to the artist name. If this is art I should find out what the name of the ‘artist’ was who designed the jungle gym at my primary school, or maybe the bloke who made my outdoor bbq funiture. Nah, I’m sure that wouldn’t qualify, it wasn’t painted blue.

Bloody hell.
