In the fogs that wrapped the city at night during the evenings earlier this week Deye braved the roads and ascended Mt Ainslie to take these photographs for your benefit.

You can see more of them on his Flickr page.

Actually, I really like the first shot of the AWM – it looks like a scene out of “Close Encounters”.

I was going to say something similar. Awesome pics, it was a pity I forgot my camera when I went out on Tuesday night, would have got some good shots.

Love those bigger versions, really well executed photography. I can’t decide which one I like best… The orange lights in teh 2nd one are like little spot burn-offs at night.

old joke :p and a perception of the fog. It might be out by a degree or two.

Avy these links are as large as I put on the web.

I think you’ll find that the Earth is on an angle.

Awesome!

no clever techniques, just stuck the camera on the tripod, lined it up and exposed it for the lighting conditions.

In the case of the top one

Exposure:

15 sec
Aperture: f/4.0
Focal Length: 90 mm
ISO: 100

I dunno, that looks pretty fancy to me. I’m still using the P setting on my camera…

Beautiful shot, but I want a larger version so I can take it all in!!

awesome photos. Thanks for sharing them

Thanks 🙂

very good!

I think Lewis Carrol would have problems being associated with that verbose character being extensively quoted yesterday. He’d throw a wobbly for sure.

Nobody should have to suffer Jabberwocky beyond a passing reference to ‘vorpal swords’.
Poor form, no points awarded.

Very good indeed, well done.

But if anyone starts quoting that horrible crap like yesterday, I’m throwing a wobbly.

You really are a turning into a threadsh1tter aren’t you.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
    All mimsy were the borogoves,
    And the mome raths outgrabe.”

Wobble away Ant.

Very good indeed, well done.

Very otherworldly – the top one reminds me of Close Encounters.

100% magic.

gorgeous.. simply gorgeous…
