Images of Canberra - Red sky over Civic

Danman has been out and about over the weekend with his tripod and given us a week’s worth of images.

He asked for the following words to accompany this one:

While the pre apocalyptic city jumped to its own heartbeat – all it has now is memories.
If you stand quietly you can hear the murmurs – the faint recollection of happier times.
If you listen hard, every picture has its own story to tell.

Quality.
Not often you see a photo that’s like you are involved, as if being there.

ps – this is only #1 in a series.

Buckle up dorothy – Kanzas is goin bye bye

Its better at full res – if anyone wants a copy email spasticschooldropout@gmail.com

Thats a real email address too 🙂

… and it really is a great photo Danman. Well done.

After 2003 I had hoped never to have to witness more bushfire sunsets over Canberra 🙁

Hope those poor bastards in Vic and Tas get through okay – at least all the smoke we see here is from a state forest, not a settlement.

Oh I read it, doesn’t mean I remember it.

I must have taught my pop how to send a text message about 100 times when he first got a mobile

bah italics overload.

best thing anyone can do when they get a new piece of technology is read the manual front to back at least twice.

Mrs Danman is forever asking me how to use her camera.

Not quite The Potato Factory – but about the same size.

ooooh spooky

Oh, all technical, I wouldn’t even know where to start, let alone where I’ve put the manual.

I knew i should have gotten it in black and not silver 🙂

Too late for the 2007 calendar?

Canberra is so crying out to be a sci fi movie.

RG get a tripod – set that puppy on f2.8 at 36mm iso 100 – open the shutter for 8 seconds and see what happens.

Unfortunately 8 seconds is max – True slr’s meter up to 30 seconds – but also have a bulb setting – that means one press to open the shutter – press again to close – can be as short or as long as you like (depending on battery life etc). 35mm mechanical cameras (SLR’s) can go for hours

Yep, reread and saw it.

I wonder what I could get out of my FZ-5…..

Randomgit – read my post up from this.
Also – camera was white balanced for flouro so maybe this helped – but a lot of my shots that nite had the apocalyptic red sky – and no tall were white balanced to flouro – most were on auto and ambient light was used.

I see it now *shrug* effing firefox.

Frikking top shot. Did you filter it?

Great shot – pity about that scuzzy looking willow weed though…

oh and D70 focussed at 17mm f5.6 for 30 seconds for those tech heads.

Only slight red gel over sun gun at base of the tree.

The sky was natural/ambient light with some smoke I am guessing.

As I listen to this picture, it is telling me that my tablet PC could do with a refresh.

There must be a filter or something in there – it’s a terrific photo.

That’s a top photo – very nice job.
