Shepherds lookout

Pommy Bastard has sent in the above with this note:

I took these on Friday night, a classic (v clichéd ?) sunset from Shepherds Lookout.

Love your work. Again, with a shot like that, it’s hard to imagine there’s a city just down the road.

You’re okay, for a Pom. 🙂

High complements indeed… 🙂

Jeez, you wouldn’t have wanted to take a really interesting photo would you?

It’s just a bit of scrawl John, “RIP Justin “Mully” Williams Gone but not forgotten XXOOXX”
and “=RIP MULLY =2010”. Surprisingly without any “Txt” speak or misspellings, erudite even for a Bogan.

And yes I do have images if you would like them?

Thanks to all.

It’s easily found Aubergibne, follow Stockdill drive (off Drake Brockman Drive in Holt/Higgins,) past the twat farm golf club, as if heading for the sewage farm.

About a K before you get to the sewage farm there’s a sign for “Sheperd’s Lookout” on the left side of the road, pointing into a car park.

It’s a very short, easy, walk from there. Not really worth taking a mountain bike down.

Oh, meany of the signs at the lookout have graffiti on them, in marker pen, (Class!) mourning the recent loss of one of Canberra’s sons.

You don’t need to guess who.

Jeez, you wouldn’t have wanted to take a really interesting photo would you?

Great shot. I’ve found Shepherd’s Lookout but it’s not obvious how you get to some sort of high point for views like that. The marker in Google Earth doesn’t seem to be on top of a hill. Can you give directions? Is it mountain-bike accessible? Cheers!

Great photo. Sunsets will be getting better with the volcanic dust up.

A beautiful sunset is pretty important. We can always make more humans, but once that moment is gone it’s never coming back!

I tried to get the iphone out as I crossed belconnen way on the GDE but not quick enough. just spectacular.

You tried to take a picture of a sunset while driving on an 80km/h road? and people wonder why they have accidents. “No officer, it wasn’t my fault. You see, there was this sunset…”

Nice one. I was marvelling at the wonderful sunset on Friday as I drove home, but sadly by the time I got there and grabbed my camera the best was past.

Thanks Spectra!

Yep, it was a “high dynamic range” shot; 1 shot at correct exposure, one at -2 stops, one at +2 stops, all amalgamated in “Dynamic HDR Pro,” then a touch of photoshopping to take off any overdone bits.

I presume the ‘hdr’ suffix photos are produced through high dynamic range trickery? The look great.
