Still at “Lake” George, with a storm brewing over Tarago: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mikeyboy/2437725008/sizes/l/

Indeed Ant. I’ve wondered if there’s now human remains just sitting on the ground, formerly covered by the water that’s now gone.

or the hurricane that tore through a boating party in the early 1900’s – it used to be a holiday destination, with boating sheds and holiday homes….

ruminating on that last one, a plain of grass and bushes. It’s hard to imagine the horror in the minds of the many who drowned there, on sail or motor/row boats, as the shallow lake and wind combined to make very treacherous boating conditions.

How weird to drown boating on a lake that is no longer there.

The first red one is quite arresting.

I remember when Lake George was full more than it was empty. That was a long time ago. At some point, they might have to re-name it.

Here’s a quick search of photos of lightning strikes in Canberra from Flickr

if anyone can point me in the direction of photos of canberra during lightning storms, it would be appreciated.

one across the lake would be good. even if there isn’t any water…

Very nice.

Any others?
