Coffeegeek took this first photo yesterday of the burning on Black Mountain, complete with the loop of the National Museum.

Later in the evening Ban took this one of the ongoing smouldering.

That first pic is first class!

i was wondering why my dorm room was filling up with smoke!!! great photos!

Thanks for the positive feedback!

The traffic was crawling yesterday afternoon with lots of rubber neckers…

Probably what caused the 3 car pile up on the GDE southbound.

Was this a control burn?

Yep.

Was this a control burn?

I saw a few people pull over next to the GDE taking photos. The traffic was crawling yesterday afternoon with lots of rubber neckers…

Thanks for these. The view from Bindubi St shortly before 6.30pm was absolutely amazing. A myriad of glowing red spots with plenty of smoke still lingering over the mountain and eerily lit by the lights of the tower. Very camera-worthy!

The scene was somewhat less impressive by nearly 9pm because the smoke had settled over the lake.

Thumbs up – they’re great shots!! 🙂
