Tree of Life in the Canberra Centre might be all new-agey but there’s nothing peace and love about the anti-pigeon spikes nailed into the top of their sign.

You don’t wanna see how close the pigeons get to the cakes as they are being unpacked first thing in the morning at Michel’s Pattisserie across the way…. those cakes need spikes * shudder *

These anti pidgeon devices are all over lights, signs, clocks, etc in Britain. They look scary at first but then you get used to them and things look naked without them.

I never knew they were bird spikes. I thought they were supposed to be some arty tree-looking thing with good social comment.

Those spikes are very important. Without them, Canberra Centre would be covered in shit.

instead of being full of it.

(sorry, just couldn’t resist, seems that everyone i meet these days has a bad comment about CC marketing manager)

Birds, in particular the Indian Minor birds, seem to love the big fluoro Woolies sign at Gungahlin TC and flock to it and sh!t all over it. Woolies need some of these spikes as well.

does that mean there are indian major birds, too?

I think you meant myna.

Most of the pigeons in civic are too fat to land on these.
Seriously though everyone feeds the birds i cant imagine them wanting to move that far from their food source..

If the birds can’t do it, then it’s up to us. We must all pull down our daks and shit on these stupid shops.

Bahahahahahahaaha!!!!

Does Godwin’s Theory apply here?

Do the pidgeons ( or all of avian existence) win the argument?

Please advise.

they’re on all the signs and lamp posts in that area of the CC. Won’t be a problem soon when they enclose it properly.

Maybe Canberra Centre management insisted on the spikes?

Julius Constantius, are you saying that shop owners who don’t let pigeons crap on their signage are Nazis, or are you telling us something about their corporate structure?

It’s pretty cool that there’s now at least two shops in the Canberra Centre with fair trade clothing.

What’s the world coming to. Birds aren’t allowed on trees anymore?

You can’t say the pigeons, and we humans, were not warned.

Look at their logo. This is no soft and cuddly tree.

But I hate birds, so power to them.

Fact: The Tree of Life is owned by Nazis.

Do they just prevent them from landing on the letters? Or do they stab them?

ToL and everything else on the Target side of that road are open to air.

Forgive my denseness, but why do they need those if they are inside?
