"In Close Proximity"

This morning’s AFP media releases contain two items worth note; one for poor timing and one for poor judgement.

First up there is this story where our misfortunate anti-hero allegedly attempted to rob a Civic service station in the early hours of Saturday morning. The release states;

“The attendant immediately activated a duress alarm, alerting ACT Policing who had a patrol in close proximity to the service station.

The attendant managed to stall the alleged offender until police arrived a few seconds later and arrested the male.”

When they say “close proximity” they mean real close. Rumour mill is that police were off there even before the alarm was activated – they arrived to fill up!

The second piece feels close to home for me. Back in the dark ages while I was still at school one of my closet friends lost his elder sister in a car accident where she had been in the back of a ute. This young man is lucky that all he’ll be appearing before court for is in relation to a drink driving charge. Blowing 4 time over the normal limit, 10 times for him considering he’s a P plater, he also had 6 other young people sitting in the tray of his ute. I hope they realise how lucky they are.

aha it’s always funny when things happen like in the first story. Serves the moron right! good on the cashier for the smart thinking when seeing the police rock up.

The second story is crazy.. the driver and passengers are very lucky, moreso why anyone would sit in the the tray of a ute of a ute while on the road.. let alone when the driver is drunk is beyond belief.
