Matthew Massey has apparently made a friend and that friend has made it onto the internet to lecture us all:

I know Matty personally and along with many other of Matty’s friends or those that know him would agree with me, He is a Kind & Loyal friend who just wants to be loved, like most of us. You people just sit on your asses with an opinon about everyone and everything, Yes! Matty has done wrong by some but look at who these people are. He has only ever hurt scum junkies or low lives that are a waste of of oxygen. The law continues to set Matty up to fail. They let him out to clean up our streets to do what law should be doing, then throw him back in jail until needed next time.Yes he has a bad reputation but do any of you know about what he has gone through growing up? No, I believe not. If we didnt have our famous Matt Massey, believe me the street would be so much more worse then what they are. I have seen Matty talking to young ones that wont to get a name for them selfs and he was continuely preaching to them not to be like him, to “live a good life with a job”. He really does try, if only someone would give him the chance to do the right thing! you would see the real Matty, not this person he has been made out to be. Dont set him up to fail again please.

I understand how a bad childhood could affect the outcome of a person, not progressing through any of the human development milestones, but something that I find interesting is Matt has a brother which you probably don’t know about because he has no criminal record an is a contributing member of society. Goes to show that you can’t blame the bad childhood, I take it that he had such a shit childhood that he wanted to change for the better.
Another thing is that if someone is institutionalised they need to be rehabilitated to become a member of society. If someone spends their whole life in jail someone who clearly needs help, you can’t let them out of jail into society and expect them to live a normal life. The government needs to start helping these criminal I know they don’t deserve it but they will eventually be out so why not help. Something needs to be done about the parol system, when they release people that have spent there adult life behind bars they need to be watched closer as they are more likely to re-offend, take a look at Corey Martian out on parol high on drugs an murdered a man. Take a look at the serial rapist out on parol and raped an murdered that Victorian woman. In closing I want to say that I know of Matt, I know that he has a big heart but I know that he is a violent person an unfortunately will spend the rest of his life being a criminal lets hope he doesn’t kill someone next time he’s out on parol.

“Parole”

Best to be slow on the take-up than not to have commented at all.

maybe he could draw you a map of where he hid stuff while he’s in prison. Oh hang on – the guards might find it and tell the coppers who get to the loot first…. oops – sorry – that was already done by another Massey maggot.

I believe whatevr PBO is on can be purchased through a hole in a big fence out on the Monaro Hwy.

Half right, if you must know you must go to -36.268420, 149.164542. and you will see a sign that aludes to my old fella. Follow that until you cannot follow it anymore and look around to see where you are. If you cannot find where you are then use your imagination. Now your imagination should be saying something along the lines of: That prick has brought me out to the middle of no-where, I should have noticed something was up when i saw the name of the road.

Thats all I ever use and it seems to do alright.

I knew Matt for a while in 07 or 08. I can only speak for myself but I found him to be a real good bloke. Don’t believe me? Fine. Yeah he’s a badass, but he only preyed on other criminals. He has his own moral code which is a bit different to the average. But I can honestly say he was nice to me and he didn’t have to be. You people need to let go of your Derryn Hinch shtick and realize that not everybody has a perfect upbringing. Noone would claim Matt is a model citizen, but Lord there are worse people in the world to hate on than him.

I’m sure he was a good bloke to his mates. I’m sure Adolf Hitler had mates who thought he was a good bloke. How about you stop trying to perpetuate the myth that he only preys on criminals? Have a think about the robberies he’s been convicted of, the burglaries, the petty theft, the assaults.

Also, his mates need to stop trying to paint him as some kind of altruistic vigilante. He robs and bashes criminals because he knows they won’t talk to the cops. That’s the one and only reason.

If he was fair dinkum about turning his life around, he’d leave the ACT when he’s released. But I guess then he wouldn’t have the notoriety he loves so much.

He is a failed criminal that even the bikies don’t want a bar of.

Tooks! Now I usually agree with you, but dont bring Hitler into this one because he was a tad more organised than “The Snork” and I dont want to have to kill another thread with my eccentric views on the world!

But I will say that I did think for a second that you said “Autistic Vigilante” instead of “Altruistic Vigilante” and that sent my mind off on a tangent that would have made an awesome comic strip.

Our scene opens with Mattman holding a crim worse than him over a ledge;

Crim: Who are you??!!
Mattman: hnnnngggg mmmmmmm geeee I’MMATTMANnnnnnnnghh. Squeeeeee! You gone now you doer of badstuff. hu hu hurrr.
Crim: Whaa tha Fuhhhhhh????
Mattman: Yaaaay I did good (proceeds to crap pants in triumph)

Pretty sad state of mind for me (and possibly you as well) if we can giggle at that for a while.

Has anyone ever looked at the origins of the Massey surname?

I did and it gave me a bit of a giggle:

Massey: May be a short form of the Roman ‘Massius’ (from the personal name ‘Matthew’, meaning ‘gift of Yahweh’).

There you have it, Snorkel is a gift from God with a circular name here to show us the error of our ways, associations and postcodes.

Why is it the responsibility of Corrective Services to hand Matt Massey his rehabilitation on a silver platter. At some point in time a person has to take a modicum of personal responsibility and actually SEEK help.

And what sort of overwhelming situation prompts you to commit armed robbery? If he knows right from wrong then there is no excuse for such behaviour.

One might consider that he should have learnt by now “what is socially acceptable” by a process of elimination. I.e. everything he has been locked up for is NOT socially acceptable, therefore he shouldn’t do it.

As a final thought, seeing as you and NathanMac know Matt so well and apparently have a firm grasp of right/wrong and acceptable behaviour, why have you both not taken steps to help Matt’s rehabilitation and prevent him from committing crimes again and again and again. You can’t just put your hand out and expect that the government will fix everything for you, you should take some responsibility yourselves.

Or is it simply easier to paint Matt as a victim, excuse his behaviour as a symptom of a hard life and in turn justify your own behaviour…hmmmm?

I am surprised you could make enough sense of that to respond! I stopped reading after the first sentence (or at least what should have been the first sentence) as my brain cells were fleeing in terror

The guy was a petty criminal who tried too hard to go big time in the crime world. May he and his kin rot in pokey for a very long time.

I love you PBO…Brilliant

I will straight up say free the guy because Canberra is boring and I like reading about the continuing adventures of Matt-man and his never ending struggle to remove all crime from the streets by doing it all himself.

He started this endeavour when he tried doing all the drugs in a vain effort to get them off the streets and in his mind, he felt that it was working.

Ma-ma ma-ma ma-ma ma-ma Mattman!

Masseyman, Masseyman,
Does whatever drugs he can.
Spins a web, with his lies,
But we let him off just because he tries.

Look out! Here comes the Masseyman.

Is he strong? Listen bud—
He’s got meth in his blood.
Think he understands this demeaning thread?
Then just refer to whats been said.

Hey there! There goes Masseyman.

In the chill of the night,
At the scene of the crime,
Like a streak of light,
He does the bolt just in time!

Look out!
Here comes the Masseyman…..

im convicned free matty gentleman respect

I am not going to insult you like others here will but I will ask you these questions.

Who is supposed to guide him? He is an adult now isnt he?

I know in my life I have managed to keep out of trouble, first with the guidence of my parents as a child (he may have missed out on that) & then through my own thoughts as an adult.

I know what is right and wrong and what will get me sent to jail so I dont do it.

Isnt the fact that he has been to jail enough ‘guidence’ for him to stop re-offending? Have ‘guidence’ councillors in jail not said to him “stay off the drugs, stay away from your old mates who get you into trouble, get a job and behave yourself”?

There comes a time in peoples lives that they need to man up and take responsibility for THEIR actions, not blame other people

That will help his life considerably.

actually – he’s done a truckload of armed robberies. 17 year old check out kids in shops aren’t low lives or oxygen thieves. He’s stolen property from innocent people. He might have been his own one man bad vigilante, but his actions have affected a large number of innocent people too.

So it’s the Law’s fault he’s a failure in life? Because the law sets him up to fail? He seems to be doing a bloody good job of that himself.

he can’t even keep his own nose clean any time he does get out.

“Yes! Matty has done wrong by some but look at who these people are. He has only ever hurt scum junkies or low lives that are a waste of of oxygen.”

Is that a round about way of saying that he is a untrustworthy dog who has dogged on people?

It’s time for young Mathew to take a new path. Write a book on his life of crime, do the talk circuit with Roger Rogerson, perhaps try his hand at a bit of art. A vacancy has just arisen, I understand.

I remember his last breach of bail the cops found him in the act of stealing a motorbike and in the possession of several stolen credit cards. Yeah this guy is really just miss understood. I feel so sorry for him the cops are such bullies always busting his dumb ass for robbing jewellery stores or kidnapping and bashing junkies who owe money to some ice queen.

Ouch, my eyes. When will people learn to read and write English?? “so much more worse then what they are”, “that wont to get a name for them selfs” and “continuely”. Please, even the words are underlined in the spell check red colour, it isn’t very hard to proof read before pressing submit.
As for the message amongst the garbage, vigilante action on anyone, including scum, is still illegal. Is this person for real??
I don’t even want to read anything about this loser [or the one bringing this illiterate mess to our screens].
Birds of a feather….

Lots of people have a rough life growing up, but they don’t go commit crimes, say one thing and do another. I think there are always plenty of people willing to help, but their ideas never sound as good…. I mean why educate yourself, get a job and earn money when it sos easy to steal instead!

, if only someone would give him the chance to do the right thing! you would see the real Matty, not this person he has been made out to be.

How many chances has this guy had?

He didn’t go to rehab once he got out last time, has failed to report to authorities, refused to give urine samples for drug tests etc – all the while he continued to break in to people’s places and steal THEIR things…

he’s had so many bloody chances that people are sick to bloody death of hearing about him. He’s had over 50 convictions.

What about the multiple armed robberies he’s done? Has he EVER given a single thought to the victims of his crimes?

I don’t mean the shop owners who might’ve lost a bit of cash or smokes, but the poor sucks in fear of their lives while he points a weapon at them?

No. Not if he keeps doing it again and again he doesn’t. THAT person is the real Matty – not some poor hard done by kid.

He has made all his own selfish decisions for the last 20 or so years. Why the hell should the community have to put up with him?

Never a truer word, etc

Why are there always dimwits around making excuses for these arsehats? How is it that there are people who can only see the 1% of good in people who appear to be 99% bad. People who can create weird rationalisations to excuse behaviour that any normal person would see as stupid, self-serving and sociopathic and harmful to both the perp and the victims.

I really, really fail to get it.

So glad we have Matt Batman Massey to protect us from the junkies. Didn’t look so brave as he ran from an angry mob at a big Canberra event earlier in the year…

“The law continues to set Matty up to fail. They let him out…”

I agree.

Letting scum out of gaol is just setting them up to fail. Once somebody has a criminal record that is even a fraction the length of Massey’s, the law should stop setting them up to fail and simply keep them in gaol, forever, for their good as well as for the community’s.

Is it mad Massey day or something…?

at least we’re safe from her now for the next few years…

The thing that bothers me with this is my assumption that all her legal shenanigans has helped enrich a bunch of lawyers at the expense of the taxpayer.

Hear hear Canardly totally agree with your comments 100% and what I do not comprehend is if he WANTS to change he would do all the things that is required BY LAW for him to help himself get out of the life that he has made for himself.

Always good to have an afternoon chuckle.

The hero that Canberra doesn’t need and certainly doesn’t want.

Plus what kind of superhero has their weakness as urination trouble and cat allergies?

“Sorry, can’t perform any street justice today. Ribs are sore which makes pissing unbearable.”
