Member for Fraser Andrew Leigh has blogged the maiden speech of Dr Chris Bourke to the Legislative Assembly.

Not a great deal about Canberra in there, or his electorate of Ginninderra. But lots and lots on the indigenous experience and the torch issues of the Labor true believers.

The only allusion to health in his maiden speech was passing mention that he had belonged (apparently briefly? How briefly?) to the ACT Public Health Association some 15 or so years ago. I’m a bit over Indigenous politicians focusing on their aunties and uncles and their family histories. Talk policy please.

Well what a lot of giant wankage..

I set low standards for our local pollies, and they always fail to achieve them, so I’m not disappointed.

My feelings are more that my suspicions have been confirmed. Just another political wannabee who’s too up himself for his own good.

Doesn’t matter if the guy is green, brown, orange, black or brindle it is about performance. In this multicultural society we live in can’t we get past a persons race, creed or religion. It is performance that counts in the end.

I was listening to an interview yesterday with him on the ABC. His main theme was – well, about him really. He believes that he’ll make a difference to the obvious problems in the ACT Government by brining his ‘experience of life’ (my words – his theme) to the table.

He seems to have a fairly healthy ego.
