Indyfest 2008 Expressions of Interest Now Open

Indyfest is calling for interested bands to participate in next year’s festival. The festival will be showcasing around 30 of the best Canberra bands in the usual fashion – 14 hours, 3 stages, all ages from 11am to 7pm.

Indyfest 2008 on Saturday 8 March 2008 and will continue well into the Sunday morning.

The festival is typically known for an avenue of exposure for local live original artists, and for punters to check out the best of the live Canberra band scene. Indyfest 2008 will carry on the tradition of 17 years of hard work.

Indyfest 2008 will be the 18th show since inception in 1990.

“Indyfest 2008 is the 18th birthday, so naturally we are going to make it a huge one” Bruce Ryan (Director).

Deadline for expressions of interest is 6pm 24 August 2007.

Many details about the event next year have already been confirmed, but are not yet ready for release.

“We want to make the most out of Indyfest 2008, there is so much talent here in Canberra” Bruce Ryan.

“Indyfest is a nationally recognised, high media profile music showcase… Making the Indyfest line up is a must for any act looking to make or maintain a profile at a local (or) national level…” Joel Duvall (Music Promoter)

“We had a great time in 07, everyone really got into it… looking for to checking out next years bash!” Arron (Lamexcuse)

Next year Indyfest will be pulling out all stops and unleashing the flood gates of the live scene into the broader community. Although the core management team remain silent on few details, we know that exposure for bands in Indyfest 2008 will not be limited to just Canberra.

“If any bands want to chat about next year or have any questions regarding their expressions of interest, give us a call.” Bruce Ryan.

Indyfest is associated with the Celebrate Canberra initiative 2006 and 2007.

Well you know Indyfest is all about building the industry and promoting the bands. I understand most places go by income through the door… I’d be aiming to pay the bands (hopefully more than $30…) and provide some contacts, advertising discounts and networking opportunities. It’s the 18th birthday – It would be good to see it back to it’s roots, building the bands and live music in ACT.

IIRC we were paid $50 in 2005.

doesn’t apra state that muso minimum wage should be around $30 p/hour p/muso

What would be the appropriate amount if we can build the sponsorship $$?

Ben.

Do you get paid ?
