Nearly always shocked when called to residential sites. Work cover maybe should take some manpower off large sites and go for drives around new suburbs being built. It’s crazy.

I’m pretty sure WorkSafe has been doing blitzes thru the new suburbs and has issued dozens of notices and thousands of dollars in infringements. Reports are up on their website.

CT is reporting this one as a worker injuring himself when bending over to pick something up, not much Worksafe can do about those kind of injuries

That’s a incredibly huge amount if resources for what sounds like a back injury?

In any case, good to hear work cover going after the actual non compliment dangerous assholes.

It’s easy to lift heavy things on paper.

This could just be a freak accident and attract no blame. However, I walk past at least one construction site every day and you have to baulk at the way many workers conduct themselves, often due to paltry supervision. I’ve seen the lollipop-stick men casually checking their mobile phones as they direct traffic in and out, countless men lifting with their backs instead of knees and even cases of top-loader trucks reversing towards groups of lunching or loitering workers with no one directing them. And those are just the common examples.

How many more young men (and later on, older ones) are going to suffer needlessly from this kind of behaviour?

God’s speed to the man injured and his family.
