This was a good one. The Lavans were a great guest.

this one in particular or all of them?

And now that I look back at my IB collection, IB#13 with The Cashews is mono and doesn’t suffer the same problems, possibly because it is effectively double the bitrate per channel. (IB#13:128k mono mp3 = 128k/channel) (IB#19:64k mono mp3 = 64k/channel) (Other IB’s:128k stereo = 64k/channel).

So this is what happens when you don’t sleep for over 24 hours…

Cheers Sam, we’ll look at the intro.

Well, the opening music has suffered. It grabs a dose of loudness and loses a dose of clarity.

I have compared it with previous IB openings and it just doesn’t sound as good, previously it was nice having the feel of different sounds in each ear, I just think the opening music sounds flat in mono, it also makes the compression artifacts more noticable (meaning I actually notice them in mono). The banalities sound the same, the live music sounds the same, can’t comment on recorded music other than the opener because there isn’t any.

It’s a pity that MP3 files can’t have some sections mono and others stereo…then you could monoise the banalities and stereoise the music…and considering that podcasts are supposedly designed for the earphone wearers that would be a good thing.

On a side note, I usually listen to IB with headphones while sitting at the computer.
